Soy una pequeña cabaña junto al estanque.

Every morning, Henry wakes up early.

He looks out my window at the water.

El estanque está muy tranquilo.

The pond is very quiet.

A veces ve saltar a un pato o a un pez.

Sometimes he sees a duck or a fish jump.

Henry sonríe cuando ve esas cosas.

Henry smiles when he sees these things.

Henry cultiva su propia comida.

Henry grows his own food.

Planta frijoles y maíz detrás de mí.

He plants beans and corn behind me.

Trabaja en el huerto todos los días.

He works in the garden every day.

His hands get dirty, but he is happy.

Henry les dice:

Henry tells them,

«Quiero vivir de forma sencilla.»

"I want to live simply."

«Quiero pensar en las cosas importantes.»

"I want to think about important things."

Por la noche, Henry lee libros a la luz de las velas.

At night, Henry reads books by candlelight.

A veces escribe en su cuaderno.

Sometimes he writes in his notebook.

Escribe sobre los árboles, los animales y sus pensamientos.

He writes about the trees, the animals, and his thoughts.

Nunca se aburre.

He is never bored.

En invierno, el estanque se convierte en hielo.

In winter, the pond becomes ice.

Henry corta leña para mantenerme caliente.

Henry cuts wood to keep me warm.

La nieve cubre mi techo como un sombrero blanco.

Snow covers my roof like a white hat.

Henry dice que el invierno también es hermoso.

Henry says winter is beautiful too.

Después de dos años, Henry me deja.

After two years, Henry leaves me.

Pero yo lo recuerdo.

But I remember him.
