Soy una pequeña cabaña junto al estanque.

I am a small cabin by the pond.

Durante dos años, un hombre llamado Henry vive dentro de mí. Henry es diferente de otras personas.

For two years, a man named Henry lives inside me. Henry is different from other people.

Él no quiere una casa grande.

He does not want a big house.

He does not want many things.

Solo quiere cosas simples como comida, agua y un lugar cálido donde dormir.

He only wants simple things like food, water, and a warm place to sleep.

Cada mañana, Henry despierta temprano.

Every morning, Henry wakes up early.

Él mira por mi ventana hacia el agua.

He looks out my window at the water.

El estanque está muy silencioso.

The pond is very quiet.

A veces ve un pato o un pez saltar.

Sometimes he sees a duck or a fish jump.

Henry sonríe cuando ve estas cosas.

Henry smiles when he sees these things.

Henry cultiva su propia comida.

Henry grows his own food.

Planta frijoles y maíz detrás de mí.

He plants beans and corn behind me.

Trabaja en el jardín todos los días.

He works in the garden every day.

Sus manos se ensucian, pero él es feliz.

His hands get dirty, but he is happy.

Mucha gente viene a visitar a Henry.

Many people come to visit Henry.

They ask,

"Why do you live in this small house?"

"Why don't you live in town?"

Henry les dice,

Henry tells them,

"Quiero vivir con sencillez."

"I want to live simply."

"Quiero pensar en cosas importantes."

"I want to think about important things."

Por las noches, Henry lee libros a la luz de las velas.

At night, Henry reads books by candlelight.

A veces escribe en su cuaderno.

Sometimes he writes in his notebook.

Escribe sobre los árboles, los animales y sus pensamientos.

He writes about the trees, the animals, and his thoughts.

Nunca se aburre.

He is never bored.

En invierno, el estanque se convierte en hielo.

In winter, the pond becomes ice.

Henry corta leña para mantenerme caliente.

Henry cuts wood to keep me warm.

La nieve cubre mi techo como un sombrero blanco.

Snow covers my roof like a white hat.

Henry dice que el invierno también es hermoso.

Henry says winter is beautiful too.

Después de dos años, Henry me deja.

After two years, Henry leaves me.

Pero lo recuerdo.

But I remember him.

Él me enseñó que la felicidad no viene de las cosas grandes.

He taught me that happiness does not come from big things.
