Człowiek odwiedza swojego starego przyjaciela Rodericka Ushera w mrocznej, rozpadającej się rezydencji jego rodziny. Dziwne i przerażające wydarzenia zaczynają się rozwijać w ponurym domu, gdzie Roderick mieszka ze swoją tajemniczą siostrą bliźniaczką.

A house with children who laugh and a cat who is too fat to catch mice.
That would be much better than living with ghosts.
