Sam le Chat Détective sauve la Ville

Sam le Chat vivait dans une grande ville aux immeubles immenses et aux rues animées.

Sam the Cat lived in a big city with tall buildings and busy streets.

Sam n’était pas un chat ordinaire.

Sam was not an ordinary cat.

Il portait un petit chapeau et gardait un minuscule carnet.

He wore a small hat and carried a tiny notebook.

Sam travaillait pour le Service municipal des animaux.

Sam worked for the City Animal Department.

Son travail consistait à vérifier si les gens disaient la vérité sur leurs animaleries.

His job was to check if people were telling the truth about their pet stores.

Un matin ensoleillé, Sam reçut une lettre étrange.

One sunny morning, Sam got a strange letter.

La lettre disait : ‘Cher Sam, il se passe quelque chose de grave à l’animalerie de la Patte d’Or.’

Sam mit son chapeau de détective et se rendit à la Patte d’Or.

Sam put on his detective hat and walked to Golden Paw Pet Store.

Le magasin se trouvait sur Maple Street, à côté d’une boutique de fleurs.

Quand Sam arriva, il vit un homme à grande moustache en train de parler à la propriétaire.

When Sam arrived, he saw a man with a big mustache talking to the store owner.

‘Je vous donnerai mille dollars pour dix chiens’, dit l’homme à la moustache.

"I will give you one thousand dollars for ten dogs," said the man with the mustache.

‘Mais je n’ai que trois chiens’, répondit la propriétaire, Mme Chen.

"But I only have three dogs," said the store owner, Mrs. Chen.

‘Ce n’est pas grave.’

"That is okay.

‘Écrivez simplement sur ce papier que vous avez dix chiens.’

Just write on this paper that you have ten dogs.

‘La ville me paiera, et je vous paierai’, dit l’homme à la moustache.

The city will pay me, and I will pay you," said the mustache man.

Les oreilles de Sam se dressèrent aussitôt.

Sam's ears stood up straight.
