Todos os dias eu nado e brinco com os meus amigos peixes.

Por favor, me deixe ir!

"Please let me go!"

Eu digo.

"Eu sou um peixe mágico!"

"I am a magic fish!"

O homem fica muito surpreso.

The man is very surprised.

Um peixe que fala!

A talking fish!

Ele é bondoso e me deixa ir.

He is kind and lets me go.

Estou tão feliz.

I am so happy.

Eu lhe digo.

I tell him.

"Se precisares de ajuda, basta chamares o meu nome três vezes."

"If you need help, just call my name three times."

O homem vai para casa, para sua esposa.

The man goes home to his wife.

Ela vive numa pequena casa antiga à beira-mar.

She lives in a small, old house by the sea.

Quando ele lhe fala sobre mim, ela fica muito animada.

When he tells her about me, she gets very excited.

"Go back!"

ela diz.

"Peça ao peixe uma casa maior!"

"Ask the fish for a bigger house!"

Então o homem volta ao mar.

So the man comes back to the sea.

"Peixe mágico, peixe mágico, peixe mágico!"

"Magic fish, magic fish, magic fish!"

ele grita.

he calls.

Nado para cima para ajudar meu novo amigo.

I swim up to help my new friend.

Mas quando ele pede uma casa, eu fico triste.

But when he asks for a house, I feel sad.

Ele era feliz antes.

He was happy before.

Agora ele parece preocupado.

Now he looks worried.

Mesmo assim, eu lhes dou uma casa bonita.

I give them a nice house anyway.

Eu quero ajudar.

I want to help.

Mas a esposa quer mais.

But the wife wants more.

Um castelo!

A castle!

Então ela quer ser uma rainha!

Then she wants to be a queen!

Então ela quer controlar o sol e a lua!

Then she wants to control the sun and moon!

Toda vez, o homem volta para mim.

Each time, the man comes back to me.

A cada vez, ele parece mais cansado e triste.

Each time, he looks more tired and sad.

Eu lhes dou tudo, mas eles nunca estão felizes.

I give them everything, but they are never happy.

Finalmente, a esposa quer ser mais poderosa do que eu.

Finally, the wife wants to be more powerful than me.

Ela quer controlar toda a magia!

She wants to control all magic!

Isso me deixa muito irritado.

This makes me very angry.

Eu tiro tudo.

I take everything away.

Agora estão de volta à sua pequena casa.

O homem sorri.

Este é o primeiro sorriso verdadeiro que vejo dele.

This is the first real smile I have seen from him.

Ele nunca mais me liga.

He never calls me again.

Mas às vezes eu nado perto da praia.

But sometimes I swim close to the shore.

Eu o vejo pescando e sorrindo.

I see him fishing and smiling.

A esposa dele está cuidando do jardim.

His wife is gardening.

Eles parecem felizes agora.

They look happy now.

E isso me deixa feliz também.

And that makes me happy too.
