Un jour, je revois son navire.

One day, I see his ship again.

Je n'ai plus peur.

I am not scared anymore.

Je suis plus âgé et plus sage maintenant.

I am older and wiser now.

Je remonte à la surface.

I swim up to the surface.

Pourquoi me poursuis-tu ?

"Why do you chase me?"

Je demande de ma voix de baleine.

I ask with my whale voice.

Le capitaine Achab paraît surpris.

Captain Ahab looks surprised.

Il n'avait jamais entendu une baleine parler auparavant.

He never heard a whale talk before.

« Tu m'as pris ma jambe ! »

"You took my leg!"

crie-t-il.

he shouts.

« Tu as essayé de me faire du mal en premier, »

"You tried to hurt me first,"

dis-je tristement.

I say sadly.

« Je ne faisais que me protéger. »

"I was only protecting myself."

Les marins écoutent.

The sailors listen.

Ils comprennent.

They understand.

Un marin dit,

One sailor says,

« Capitaine, peut-être devrions-nous arrêter de nous battre. »

"Captain, maybe we should stop fighting."

Le capitaine Achab réfléchit longuement.
