A man walked through the forest on a cold winter day.
Vide un serpente per terra.
He saw a snake on the ground.

The snake was not moving.
Sembrava molto freddo e malato.
It looked very cold and sick.
L'uomo provò pietà per il serpente.
The man felt sorry for the snake.

He picked it up gently.

He put the snake inside his warm coat.

The snake looked at the man and said,

"You knew I was a snake when you picked me up."
Questo è quello che fanno i serpenti.
"This is what snakes do."
L'uomo chiuse gli occhi e morì.
The man closed his eyes and died.

He learned too late that some creatures never change, even when you are kind to them.
