Un grupo de valientes colonos viaja hacia el oeste para construir una nueva vida en la frontera americana salvaje. Enfrentan desafíos peligrosos y deben trabajar juntos para sobrevivir en la naturaleza.

Only rabbits and birds lived here.

Life was peaceful.

Then they came.

The first people.

They had big dreams and small bags.

They looked at the empty land and smiled.
Construiremos un pueblo aquí,
"We will build a town here,"
dijo el hombre del sombrero rojo.
said the man with the red hat.
¿Pero dónde dormiremos?
"But where will we sleep?"
preguntó la mujer con el bebé.
asked the woman with the baby.
Bajo las estrellas,
"Under the stars,"
dijo el abuelo.
said the old grandfather.
Como hacen los valientes.
"Like brave people do."
Los observé cada día.
I watched them every day.
Talaban a mis amigos árboles.
They cut down my tree friends.
Estaba triste, pero lo entendía.
I was sad, but I understood.
Necesitaban madera para las casas.
They needed wood for houses.
El primer invierno fue duro.
The first winter was hard.
La nieve cayó muy honda.
Snow fell deep.
Había poca comida.
Food was little.
El bebé lloraba de noche.
The baby cried at night.
Quise ayudar, pero solo soy un árbol.
I wanted to help, but I am just a tree.
Quizá debamos volver,
"Maybe we should go back,"

said the man.

"We are pioneers."
Nos quedamos.
"We stay."
Llegó la primavera.
Spring came.
Sembraron semillas.
They planted seeds.
Les di sombra.
I gave them shade.
Poco a poco, el pueblo creció.
Slowly, the town grew.
Llegaron más personas.
More people came.
Los niños jugaban bajo mis ramas.
Children played under my branches.
Pasaron los años.
Years passed.
El pequeño pueblo se volvió grande.
The small town became big.
La gente olvidó los tiempos difíciles.
People forgot the hard times.
Olvidaron que alguna vez tuvieron miedo.
They forgot they were once scared.
Pero yo lo recuerdo todo.
But I remember everything.
Recuerdo su valentía.
I remember their courage.
Recuerdo su esperanza.
I remember their hope.
Todavía llegan personas nuevas.
New people still come.
Miran los grandes edificios y las calles llenas.
They look at the big buildings and busy streets.
No conocen la historia.
