Le Vent du Nord et le Soleil se disputent pour savoir qui est le plus fort et le plus puissant. Ils décident de régler leur désaccord par un simple concours impliquant un voyageur qui marche sur la route.
Le Vent du Nord et le Soleil étaient amis.
The North Wind and the Sun were friends.
Mais ils aimaient se disputer pour savoir qui était le plus fort.
But they liked to argue about who was stronger.
Un jour, ils virent un homme qui marchait sur la route.
One day, they saw a man walking down the road.
Il portait un manteau chaud.
He wore a warm coat.
« Je suis plus fort que toi »,
"I am stronger than you,"
dit le Vent du Nord.
said the North Wind.
« Je peux faire enlever son manteau à cet homme. »
"I can make that man take off his coat."
« Non, je suis plus fort, »
"No, I am stronger,"
dit le Soleil.
said the Sun.
« Je peux le faire enlever son manteau en premier. »
"I can make him take off his coat first."
Ils décidèrent d'organiser un concours.
They decided to have a contest.
Le Vent du Nord commença le premier.

Le Soleil brilla doucement sur l'homme.
The Sun shone gently on the man.
L'air devint tiède.

L'homme eut chaud.

Il ouvrit son manteau.

Le Soleil brilla un peu plus fort.

L'homme se sentit très réchauffé.

Il ôta son manteau et le porta à la main.
