Le rane e il bue

C'era una volta, c'erano alcune piccole rane che giocavano in uno stagno.

Once upon a time, there were some little frogs playing in a pond.

Stavano saltando e sguazzando, divertendosi molto.

They were jumping and splashing, having lots of fun.

Un giorno, un grande bue venne allo stagno per bere acqua.

One day, a big ox came to the pond to drink water.

Le rane non avevano mai visto niente di così enorme prima.

The frogs had never seen anything so huge before.

Erano spaventati e iniziarono a gracidare forte.

They were scared and started to croak loudly.

"Guarda quel gigante!" disse una rana.

"Look at that giant!" one frog said.

"È così grande che potrebbe calpestarci!" gridò un'altra rana.

"He's so big, he might step on us!" another frog cried.

Le rane gonfiarono i loro corpi, cercando di sembrare più grandi.

The frogs puffed up their bodies, trying to look bigger.

Pensavano che se fossero sembrati grandi come il bue, si sarebbero sentiti più al sicuro.

They thought if they looked big like the ox, they would feel safer.

Ma non importa quanto si gonfiassero, non riuscivano a eguagliare la dimensione del bue.

But no matter how much they puffed, they couldn't match the ox's size.

Il bue bevve tranquillamente la sua acqua e se ne andò.

The ox just calmly drank his water and left.

Le rane si resero conto che cercare di essere qualcosa che non erano era sciocco.

The frogs realized that trying to be something they weren't was silly.

Tornarono ad essere piccole rane felici, godendosi il loro stagno.

They went back to being happy little frogs, enjoying their pond.

La morale della storia è: Sii te stesso, perché cercare di essere qualcosa che non sei può essere inutile e stancante.

The moral of the story is: Be yourself, because trying to be something you're not can be pointless and tiring.
