Chaque jour, je nage et joue avec mes amis poissons.

Every day I swim and play with my fish friends.

La vie est belle dans l'océan.

Life is good in the ocean.

Mais un jour, un homme m'attrape avec son filet.

But one day, a man catches me with his net.

S'il vous plaît, laissez-moi partir !

"Please let me go!"

dis-je.

« Je suis un poisson magique ! »

L'homme est très surpris.

Il est gentil et me laisse partir.

Je lui dis.

L'homme rentre chez lui auprès de sa femme.

The man goes home to his wife.

Elle vit dans une petite maison ancienne au bord de la mer.

She lives in a small, old house by the sea.

Quand il lui parle de moi, elle devient très excitée.

"Go back!"

dit-elle.

« Demande au poisson une maison plus grande ! »

"Ask the fish for a bigger house!"

Alors l'homme retourne à la mer.

« Poisson magique, poisson magique, poisson magique ! »

"Magic fish, magic fish, magic fish!"

crie-t-il.

Je nage vers lui pour aider mon nouvel ami.

I swim up to help my new friend.

Mais quand il demande une maison, je me sens triste.

But when he asks for a house, I feel sad.

Il était heureux avant.

He was happy before.

Maintenant il a l'air inquiet.

Now he looks worried.

Je leur donne quand même une belle maison.

I give them a nice house anyway.

Je veux aider.

I want to help.

Mais la femme en veut davantage.

But the wife wants more.

Un château !

A castle!

Alors elle veut être reine !

Then she wants to be a queen!

Alors elle veut contrôler le soleil et la lune !

Then she wants to control the sun and moon!

Chaque fois, l'homme revient vers moi.

Each time, the man comes back to me.

À chaque fois, il paraît plus fatigué et triste.

Each time, he looks more tired and sad.

Je leur donne tout, mais ils ne sont jamais heureux.

I give them everything, but they are never happy.

Finalement, l'épouse veut être plus puissante que moi.

Finally, the wife wants to be more powerful than me.

Elle veut contrôler toute la magie !

She wants to control all magic!

Cela me met très en colère.

This makes me very angry.

J'enlève tout.

I take everything away.

Maintenant ils sont de retour dans leur petite maison.

L'homme vient à la mer une dernière fois.

Je lui dis.

L'homme sourit.

C'est le premier vrai sourire que je lui aie vu.

Il ne m'appelle plus jamais.

He never calls me again.

Mais parfois je nage près du rivage.

But sometimes I swim close to the shore.

Je le vois pêcher et sourire.

I see him fishing and smiling.

Sa femme jardine.

His wife is gardening.

Ils ont l'air heureux maintenant.

They look happy now.

Et cela me rend heureux aussi.
