Deux canards étaient ses amis.

Two ducks were his friends.

Ils aimaient se parler chaque jour.

They liked to talk together every day.

Un été, l'étang devint très sec.

Il ne restait plus d'eau.

There was no water left.

Les canards dirent,

The ducks said,

« Nous devons voler vers un autre étang. »

"We must fly to another pond."

« Mais vous ne pouvez pas voler avec nous. »

"But you cannot fly with us."

La tortue était triste.

The tortoise was sad.

Il dit,

« Emmenez-moi avec vous, je vous prie. »

"Please take me with you."

Je ne veux pas rester ici seul.

"I do not want to stay here alone."

Les canards réfléchirent longuement.

The ducks thought for a long time.

Puis un canard dit,

Then one duck said,

Nous avons une idée.

"We have an idea."

Nous tiendrons un bâton avec nos becs.

"We will hold a stick with our beaks."

« Vous pouvez mordre le milieu du bâton. »

"You can bite the middle of the stick."

Alors nous pourrons te porter.

"Then we can carry you."

La tortue était heureuse.

The tortoise was happy.

C'est un bon plan !

"That is a good plan!"

Les canards trouvèrent un bâton solide.

Ils dirent à la tortue,

Tu ne dois pas ouvrir la bouche.

Tu ne dois pas parler.

« Si tu parles, tu tomberas. »

Les canards ramassèrent le bâton.

The ducks picked up the stick.

Ils se mirent à voler.

Ils pointèrent du doigt et crièrent,

"Look!"

La tortue entendit les gens.
