Una formica laboriosa trascorre l'estate raccogliendo cibo mentre una cicala spensierata si diverte a cantare e giocare. Quando arriva l'inverno, le loro diverse scelte portano a risultati molto diversi.

A cicada lived in a tree.

All summer, the cicada sang happy songs.

The cicada played and had fun every day.
Una formica viveva vicino all'albero.
An ant lived near the tree.
La formica lavorò sodo per tutta l'estate.
The ant worked hard all summer.
La formica portò il cibo a casa sua.
The ant carried food to her home.
La formica conservò il cibo per l'inverno.
The ant saved food for winter.
La cicala vide la formica che lavorava.
The cicada saw the ant working.
"Perché lavori così tanto?"
"Why do you work so much?"
chiese la cicala.
asked the cicada.
"Vieni a cantare con me!"
"Come and sing with me!"
"L'estate è bellissima!"
"Summer is beautiful!"
La formica disse,
The ant said,
"Devo lavorare adesso."
"I must work now."
"L'inverno sta arrivando."
"Winter is coming."
"Ho bisogno di cibo per i giorni freddi."
"I need food for the cold days."
La cicala rise.
The cicada laughed.
"L'inverno è lontano!"
"Winter is far away!"
"Voglio cantare e giocare adesso."
"I want to sing and play now."
L'estate è finita.
Summer ended.
L'inverno arrivò.
Winter came.
Faceva molto freddo.
It was very cold.
Non c'era cibo da nessuna parte.
There was no food anywhere.
La cicala aveva molta fame.
The cicada was very hungry.
La cicala andò a casa della formica.
The cicada went to the ant's home.
"Per favore aiutami,"
"Please help me,"
disse la cicala.
said the cicada.
Non ho cibo.
"I have no food."
"Non ho cibo."
"I am so hungry."
"Ho così tanta fame."
The ant looked at the cicada.
La formica guardò la cicala.
"What did you do all summer?"
"Cosa hai fatto per tutta l'estate?"
asked the ant.
chiese la formica.
"I sang beautiful songs,"
"Ho cantato belle canzoni,"
said the cicada.
disse la cicala.
The ant said,
La formica disse,
"You sang all summer."
"Hai cantato per tutta l'estate."
"Now you can dance all winter."
"Ora puoi ballare per tutto l'inverno."
The ant closed her door.
