Quand Olga prit sa retraite, elle devint enseignante.

She taught young women how to use the slide rule, how to check every number twice, and how to speak up quietly but firmly when something was wrong.

"Le pont ne se soucie pas de savoir dont le nom est sur les plans", leur dit-elle.

"The bridge does not care whose name is on the drawings," she told them.

"Le pont ne se soucie que de savoir si les chiffres sont justes."

"The bridge only cares whether the numbers are right."
