Io sono il gatto del palazzo.
I am the palace cat.
Vedo tutto.
I see everything.
Conosco tutti i segreti.
I know all the secrets.
Il re mangia da solo ogni giorno.
The king eats alone every day.
Chiude a chiave la sua porta.
He locks his door.
Nessuno può entrare.
No one can come in.
Ma io sono piccolo/a.
But I am small.
Mi nascondo sotto la sua grande sedia.
I hide under his big chair.
Ogni giorno, un uomo porta al re una ciotola d'argento.
Every day, a man brings the king a silver bowl.
La ciotola ha un coperchio bianco sopra.
The bowl has a white cover on top.
Il re aspetta.
The king waits.
L'uomo se ne va.
The man goes away.
Allora il re apre la ciotola.
Then the king opens the bowl.
Dentro la ciotola c'è un serpente bianco!

Il re mangia il serpente.
The king eats the snake.
Ogni giorno, la stessa cosa.
Every day, the same thing.
Dopo che mangia il serpente, succede qualcosa di strano.
After he eats the snake, something strange happens.
Il re può capire tutti gli animali.
The king can understand all animals.
Parla con gli uccelli fuori dalla sua finestra.
He talks to the birds outside his window.
Ascolta i topi nelle pareti.
He listens to the mice in the walls.
Ma lui non sa che io sono qui.

Un giorno, seguo l'uomo che porta la ciotola.
One day, I follow the man who brings the bowl.

His name is Tom.
Lavora in cucina.
He works in the kitchen.
Tom è molto curioso riguardo al serpente bianco.

Anche lui vuole provarlo.
He wants to try it too.
Quando nessuno sta guardando, Tom prende un piccolo pezzo del serpente bianco.
When no one is looking, Tom takes a small piece of the white snake.
Lo mangia velocemente.
He eats it quickly.
All'improvviso, Tom riesce a sentirmi!
Suddenly, Tom can hear me!
Mi guarda dall'alto in basso con occhi grandi.
He looks down at me with big eyes.
"Hai appena detto ciao?"
"Did you just say hello?"
Tom mi chiede.
Tom asks me.
"Sì!"
"Yes!"
Io dico.
I say.
"Ho aspettato così tanto per parlare con qualcuno!"
"I have been waiting so long to talk to someone!"
Tom è molto sorpreso.
Tom is very surprised.
Ma è anche felice.
But he is also happy.
Ora ha un amico segreto.
Now he has a secret friend.
Insieme, risolviamo molti problemi nel palazzo.
Together, we solve many problems in the palace.
Quando la regina perde il suo anello, le formiche ci dicono dove si trova.
When the queen loses her ring, the ants tell us where it is.
Quando la principessa è triste, gli uccelli ci dicono perché.
When the princess is sad, the birds tell us why.
