Due ragazzi che si assomigliano perfettamente ma vivono vite completamente diverse si incontrano per caso nell'antica Inghilterra. Uno è un principe che vive nel lusso, mentre l'altro è un ragazzo povero che lotta per le strade.
Sono uno specchio magico nel palazzo.
I am a magic mirror in the palace.
Ogni giorno vedo molte cose.
Every day, I see many things.
Oggi è davvero strano.
Today is very strange.
Questa mattina il principe Alex mi guarda.
This morning, Prince Alex looks at me.
È triste.
He is sad.
Voglio essere libero,
"I want to be free,"
dice.
he says.
Voglio giocare fuori come gli altri bambini.
"I want to play outside like other children."
Più tardi un ragazzo povero viene a pulirmi.
Later, a poor boy comes to clean me.
Si chiama Sam.
His name is Sam.
Assomiglia proprio al principe Alex!
He looks just like Prince Alex!
Stesso viso, stessi capelli, stessi occhi.
Same face, same hair, same eyes.
Sam dice:
Sam says,
Vorrei avere da mangiare ogni giorno.
"I wish I had food every day."
Vorrei avere un letto caldo.
"I wish I had a warm bed."
Poi succede qualcosa di magico.
Then something magical happens.
I ragazzi si incontrano nella mia stanza.
The boys meet in my room.
Si guardano l'un l'altro.
They look at each other.
Sono molto sorpresi.
They are very surprised.
Somigli a me!
"You look like me!"
dice il principe Alex.
says Prince Alex.
Anche tu somigli a me!
"You look like me too!"
dice Sam. Hanno un'idea.
says Sam. They have an idea.
Scambiamoci i vestiti,
"Let's change clothes,"
dice il principe Alex.
says Prince Alex.
Tu puoi essere il principe.
"You can be the prince."
Io posso fare il ragazzo povero.
"I can be the poor boy."
Si scambiano i vestiti.
They change clothes.
Ora Sam indossa i vestiti del principe
Now Sam wears the prince
bellissimi.
's beautiful clothes.'
Il principe Alex indossa i vestiti
'Prince Alex wears Sam'
vecchi di Sam.
s old clothes.
Ma poi arrivano le guardie.
But then the guards come.
Portano via il Principe Alex!
They take Prince Alex away!
Pensano che sia Sam.
They think he is Sam.
Portano Sam dal re!
They take Sam to the king!
Pensano che sia il Principe Alex. Per molti giorni, questo succede.

Il Principe Alex vive per strada.
Prince Alex lives on the streets.
Ha fame e sente freddo.
He is hungry and cold.
Impara a conoscere i problemi della gente povera.
He learns about poor people's problems.
Sam vive nel palazzo.
Sam lives in the palace.
Ha paura ma cerca di essere un buon principe.
He is scared but tries to be a good prince.
Aiuta i poveri perché conosce le loro difficoltà.
He helps poor people because he knows their problems.
Osservo tutto.
I watch everything.
Voglio aiutare, ma non posso parlare con le persone.
I want to help, but I cannot speak to people.
Un giorno entrambi i ragazzi tornano nella mia stanza.
One day, both boys come to my room again.
Sono felici di rivedersi.
They are happy to see each other.
«Ho imparato così tanto,»
"I learned so much,"
dice il principe Alex.
says Prince Alex.
«I poveri hanno bisogno di aiuto.»
"Poor people need help."
«Voglio aiutarli quando sarò re.»
"I want to help them when I am king."
«Ho imparato anch'io,»
"I learned too,"
dice Sam.
says Sam.
«Essere un principe è un lavoro duro.»
"Being a prince is hard work."
«Ma voglio aiutarti ad aiutare la gente.»
"But I want to help you help people."
Si cambiano di nuovo i vestiti.
They change clothes again.
Il principe Alex torna a essere il principe.
Prince Alex becomes the prince.
Sam torna a essere Sam.
Sam becomes Sam.
Ma ora sono amici.
But now they are friends.
Il principe Alex fa di Sam il suo aiutante.
Prince Alex makes Sam his helper.
Insieme rendono migliore la vita dei poveri.
Together, they make life better for poor people.
Sono felice.
I am happy.
A volte succede la magia quando le persone imparano a capirsi.
