Mi chiamo Lucy. Sono una gatta.

My name is Lucy. I am a cat.

Vivo nella casa più bella del mondo.

I live in the most beautiful house in the world.

I miei padroni, Adamo ed Eva, mi vogliono tanto bene.

My owners, Adam and Eve, love me very much.

We have everything we need.

Ogni giorno compare cibo nelle nostre ciotole.

Food appears in our bowls every day.

The sun is always warm.

The garden smells like flowers.

Vedo un grande albero nel mezzo del giardino.

I see a big tree in the middle of the garden.

Adamo ed Eva non si avvicinano mai a lui.

Adam and Eve never go near it.

They look scared when they see it.

One day, I walk to the tree.

"Hello, little cat,"

dice il serpente.

"Do you want to know a secret?"

I love secrets.

I tuoi padroni pensano di essere intelligenti.

"Your owners think they are smart."

Ma non sanno nulla.

"But they know nothing."

Se mangeranno il frutto di questo albero, sapranno tutto.

"If they eat fruit from this tree, they will know everything."

Saranno come dei.

"They will be like gods."

Sembra emozionante.

This sounds exciting.

Perché non lo mangiano?

"Why don't they eat it?"

chiedo.

I ask.

Perché hanno paura,

"Because they are scared,"

ride il serpente.

the snake laughs.

"But you are not scared, are you?"

I am curious.

Voglio aiutare Adamo ed Eva a diventare intelligenti come gli dei.

I want to help Adam and Eve become smart like gods.

I run to find them.

They are sleeping under another tree.

I meow loudly.

I run to the special tree.

I run back to them.

I do this many times.

Finally, they follow me.

Lucy, perché ci hai portati qui?

"Lucy, why did you bring us here?"

Eve asks.

She looks worried.

I cannot speak human words.

So I do something else.

I jump up and touch the fruit with my paw.

It falls down.

I push it toward Eve with my nose.

La gatta vuole che lo mangiamo,

"The cat wants us to eat it,"

dice Adamo.

Adam says.

"Maybe it's okay,"

dice Eva.

Eve says.

Lucy è intelligente.

"Lucy is smart."

Ci vuole bene.

"She loves us."

Eva raccoglie il frutto.

Eve picks up the fruit.

Ne dà un morso.

She takes a bite.

Poi Adamo ne mangia anche lui.

Then Adam eats some too.

All'improvviso tutto cambia.

Suddenly, everything changes.

Il cielo diventa grigio.

The sky becomes gray.

Soffia un vento freddo.

Cold wind blows.

Adamo ed Eva iniziano a piangere.

Adam and Eve start crying.

Guardano i loro corpi e provano vergogna.

They look at their bodies and feel shame.

Scappano per nascondersi.

They run away to hide.

Una voce forte arriva dal cielo.

A loud voice comes from the sky.

Adamo!

"Adam!"

Eva!

"Eve!"

Che cosa avete fatto?

"What did you do?"

Mi nascondo sotto un cespuglio.

I hide under a bush.

Adesso ho paura.

I am scared now.

Ho fatto qualcosa di male?

Did I do something bad?

La voce li trova.

The voice finds them.

Avete mangiato il frutto!

"You ate the fruit!"

Dovete lasciare questo luogo magnifico.

"You must leave this beautiful place."

Dovrete lavorare duramente.

"You must work hard."

Proverete dolore.

"You will feel pain."

Invecchierete e morirete.

"You will grow old and die."

Poi la voce trova me.

Then the voice finds me.

E tu, piccola gatta.

"And you, little cat."

Li hai aiutati.

"You helped them."

Anche tu te ne andrai.

"You will also leave."

Usciamo tutti dal bellissimo giardino.

We all walk out of the beautiful garden.

Il cancello si chiude alle nostre spalle.

The gate closes behind us.

Non potremo mai più tornare.

We can never go back.

Ora viviamo in una casetta.

Now we live in a small house.

Adamo ed Eva lavorano ogni giorno.

Adam and Eve work every day.

Sono stanchi e tristi.

They are tired and sad.

A volte mi guardano con occhi arrabbiati.

Sometimes they look at me with angry eyes.

Sometimes they pet me and say it's not my fault.
