Tre soldati fuggono dalla guerra ma si ritrovano intrappolati senza via di ritorno a casa. Quando una figura misteriosa offre loro un accordo che potrebbe cambiare tutto, devono decidere se il prezzo vale la pena di essere pagato.

My name is Granny Fire.
Sono molto, molto vecchio.
I am very, very old.
Vivo in una grande grotta sotto terra.
I live in a big cave under the ground.
Mio nipote mi fa visita ogni giorno.
My grandson visits me every day.
Mio nipote non è un ragazzo normale.
My grandson is not a normal boy.
Ha la pelle rossa e piccole corna.
He has red skin and small horns.
La gente lo chiama il Diavolo.
People call him the Devil.
Ma per me, è solo il mio piccolo Danny. Un giorno, Danny viene alla mia grotta.
But to me, he is just my little Danny. One day, Danny comes to my cave.
Sembra triste.
He looks sad.
"Nonna, domani vengono a trovarmi tre soldati,"
"Granny, three soldiers are coming to see me tomorrow,"
dice.
he says.
Vogliono farmi tre domande.
"They want to ask me three questions."
"Se non riesco a rispondere, saranno liberi."
"If I cannot answer, they will be free."
"Se posso rispondere, lavoreranno per me per sempre."
"If I can answer, they will work for me forever."
"Quali domande faranno?"
"What questions will they ask?"
Io dico.
I say.
"Non lo so, nonna."
"I don't know, Granny."
Questo è il problema!
"That's the problem!"
"Questo è il problema!"
I think for a moment.
Penso per un momento.
Then I smile.
Poi sorrido.
"Don't worry, Danny."
Ho un'idea.
"I have an idea."
Il giorno dopo, mi trasformo in un grande uccello nero.
The next day, I change into a big black bird.
Volo al campo dei soldati.
I fly to the soldiers' camp.
Li ascolto parlare.
I listen to them talk.
"Domani faremo al Diavolo tre domande difficili,"
"Tomorrow we will ask the Devil three hard questions,"
dice il primo soldato.
says the first soldier.
"Cosa mangia il Diavolo a colazione ogni mattina?"
"What does the Devil eat for breakfast every morning?"
"Sì!"
"Yes!"
dice il secondo soldato.
says the second soldier.
"E cosa usa il Diavolo per pulirsi i denti?"
"And what does the Devil use to clean his teeth?"
"Perfetto!"
"Perfect!"
dice il terzo soldato.
says the third soldier.
"E cosa pensa il Diavolo prima di andare a dormire?"
"And what does the Devil think about before he goes to sleep?"
Torno velocemente da Danny volando.
I fly back to Danny quickly.
Gli dico tutto.
I tell him everything.
Io dico.
"The answers are easy,"
"Mangi biscotti di fuoco a colazione."
I say.
"Ti pulisci i denti con un baffo di drago."
"You eat fire cookies for breakfast."
"E pensi alla tua cara vecchia nonna prima di dormire."
"You clean your teeth with a dragon's whisker."
Danny ride.
"And you think about your dear old grandmother before you sleep."
"Nonna, sei la più intelligente!"
Danny laughs.
Il giorno dopo, arrivano i soldati.
"Granny, you are the smartest!"
Fanno le loro tre domande.
The next day, the soldiers come.
Danny risponde perfettamente.
They ask their three questions.
I soldati sono molto sorpresi.
Danny answers perfectly.
"Come lo sapevi?"
The soldiers are very surprised.
chiedono.
"How did you know?"
Danny fa l'occhiolino.
they ask.
"Un buon nipote ascolta sempre sua nonna!"
Danny winks.
I soldati ora devono lavorare per Danny.
"A good grandson always listens to his grandmother!"
Ma Danny è gentile.
The soldiers must work for Danny now.
Dà loro lavori facili come innaffiare i suoi fiori di fuoco.
But Danny is kind.
E ogni notte, Danny pensa davvero a me prima di dormire.
He gives them easy jobs like watering his fire flowers.
And every night, Danny really does think about me before he sleeps.
