The Crow and the Swan
Un corvo vede un bellissimo cigno bianco e diventa geloso del suo aspetto. Il corvo decide di provare a cambiare se stesso per diventare bello come il cigno.
Un corvo vide un bellissimo cigno bianco che nuotava in un lago.
A crow saw a beautiful white swan swimming in a lake.
Il corvo guardò le sue piume nere.
The crow looked at his own black feathers.
Si sentiva triste.
He felt sad.
"Voglio essere bianco e bello come il cigno,"
"I want to be white and beautiful like the swan,"
pensò il corvo.
thought the crow.
Il corvo osservava il cigno ogni giorno.
The crow watched the swan every day.
Vide il cigno che si lavava nell'acqua pulita.
He saw the swan washing in the clean water.
"Forse lavandomi diventerò bianco anch'io,"
"Maybe washing will make me white too,"
disse il corvo.
said the crow.
Il corvo lasciò la sua casa tra gli alberi.
The crow left his home in the trees.
Andò a vivere vicino all'acqua.
He went to live by the water.
Ogni giorno si lavava le piume nere.
Every day he washed his black feathers.
Li strofinò e li sfregò energicamente.
He rubbed and scrubbed them hard.
Ma le sue piume rimasero nere.
But his feathers stayed black.
Il corvo diventò molto magro perché non riusciva a trovare il suo cibo abituale vicino all'acqua.
The crow got very thin because he could not find his usual food near the water.
Divenne debole e malato.
He became weak and sick.
Presto il povero corvo morì.
Soon the poor crow died.
Le sue piume erano ancora nere.
His feathers were still black.
