Due bambini si perdono in una foresta buia e scoprono una casa fatta di caramelle e dolci. Si rendono presto conto che la vecchia donna che vive lì non è gentile come sembra inizialmente.
Il mio nome è Casa di Pan di Zenzero.

Sono molto triste oggi.

Per molti anni, sono stato felice.
For many years, I was happy.
Vivevo nella foresta con la mia amica, la vecchia signora.
I lived in the forest with my friend, the old woman.

She made me from sweet cookies and candy.

My walls were chocolate.

My roof was made of gumdrops.

Children walked by every day.

They looked at me and smiled.

When they came close, she tried to catch them.

She wanted to cook them!

This made me very scared.
Un giorno, due bambini vennero in visita.
One day, two children came to visit.
I loro nomi erano Hansel e Gretel.
Their names were Hansel and Gretel.
Erano affamati e persi.
They were hungry and lost.
Hanno iniziato a mangiare le mie pareti!
They started to eat my walls!
"Fermati!"
"Stop!"
Volevo dire.
I wanted to say.
"Fa male!"
"That hurts!"
Ma le case non possono parlare.
But houses cannot talk.
La vecchia donna uscì.
The old woman came out.
Afferrò i bambini.
She grabbed the children.
Li ha messi in una gabbia.
She put them in a cage.
Voleva mangiarli per cena!
She wanted to eat them for dinner!
Mi sentivo terribile.
I felt terrible.
Questi bambini avevano solo fame.
These children were just hungry.
Non volevano farmi del male.
They did not want to hurt me.
Avevano bisogno di aiuto.
They needed help.
Quando la vecchia donna andò a dormire, resi la mia porta molto allentata.
When the old woman went to sleep, I made my door very loose.
Ho fatto tremare le mie finestre.
I made my windows shake.
Ho fatto rumore tutta la notte.
I made noise all night.
Al mattino, Gretel stava cucinando per la vecchia donna.
In the morning, Gretel was cooking for the old woman.
Ho reso la mia cucina molto calda.
I made my kitchen very hot.
La vecchia donna venne a controllare il forno.
The old woman came to check the oven.
Spingila dentro!
"Push her in!"
Ho sussurrato al vento.
I whispered to the wind.
Il vento lo disse a Gretel. Gretel spinse la vecchia donna nel forno.
The wind told Gretel. Gretel pushed the old woman into the oven.
La vecchia donna se n'era andata per sempre.
The old woman was gone forever.
I bambini hanno trovato dell'oro nelle mie stanze.
The children found gold in my rooms.
La presero e corsero a casa dal loro padre.
They took it and ran home to their father.
Ora vivo da solo nella foresta.
Now I live alone in the forest.
Sono ancora fatto di caramelle, ma sono felice.
I am still made of candy, but I am happy.
Non succedono più cose brutte qui.
No more bad things happen here.
A volte, bambini affamati mi vengono ancora a trovare.
Sometimes, hungry children still visit me.
Ho lasciato che mangiassero le mie pareti.
I let them eat my walls.
Posso sempre far crescere nuove caramelle.
I can always grow new candy.
Quando sono sazi, tornano a casa sani e salvi.
When they are full, they go home safe.
Ora sono una buona casa.
I am a good house now.
