Uma mulher sábia diz,

A wise woman says,

"Apenas a maçã dourada pode salvar o rei."

"Only the golden apple can save the king."

"Ela cresce numa árvore mágica muito distante."

"It grows on a magic tree far away."

Ferdinand Um diz,

Ferdinand One says,

"Eu irei encontrar esta maçã."

"I will go find this apple."

Ele arruma sua bagagem.

He packs his bag.

Ele leva pão e água.

He takes bread and water.

Fernando Segundo ri.

Ferdinand Two laughs.

"Eu também irei."

"I will go too."

"Mas eu chegarei lá primeiro."

"But I will get there first."

"Então o rei me dará ouro!"

"Then the king will give me gold!"

Ambos deixam o castelo.

They both leave the castle.

Observo da minha janela.

I watch from my window.

Ferdinand Primeiro ajuda as pessoas em seu caminho.

Ferdinand One helps people on his way.

Ele dá pão às crianças famintas.

He gives bread to hungry children.

Ele ajuda um velho a consertar sua carroça.

He helps an old man fix his cart.

Fernando Segundo afasta as pessoas.

Ferdinand Two pushes people away.

Ele rouba comida de uma família pobre.

He steals food from a poor family.

Ele é rude com todos.

He is rude to everyone.

Após muitos dias, eles encontram a árvore mágica.

After many days, they find the magic tree.

A maçã dourada brilha como o sol.

The golden apple shines like the sun.

Mas um grande dragão dorme sob a árvore.

But a big dragon sleeps under the tree.

Fernando Segundo tenta agarrar a maçã rapidamente.

Ferdinand Two tries to grab the apple fast.

"Nosso rei está morrendo."

"Our king is dying."

"Podeis nos ajudar?"

"Can you help us?"

O dragão gosta do coração bondoso de Fernando Primeiro.

The dragon likes Ferdinand One's kind heart.

"Podes levar a maçã,"

"You may take the apple,"

diz o dragão.

says the dragon.

"Mas o teu amigo é um homem mau."

"But your friend is a bad man."

"Ele não pode voltar ao castelo."

"He cannot come back to the castle."

Ferdinando Primeiro retorna ao lar.

Ferdinand One returns home.

Ele entrega a maçã ao rei.

He gives the apple to the king.

O rei fica bom!

The king gets better!

Todos ficam felizes.

Everyone is happy.

Fernando Segundo se perde na floresta.

Ferdinand Two gets lost in the forest.

Ele ainda está lá hoje, eu acho.

He is still there today, I think.

O rei faz de Fernando Primeiro seu melhor ajudante.

The king makes Ferdinand One his best helper.

Ferdinand Primeiro ainda me alimenta com peixe todos os dias.
