Cada día aparece comida en nuestros cuencos.

Food appears in our bowls every day.

El sol siempre es cálido.

The sun is always warm.

El jardín huele a flores.

The garden smells like flowers.

Pero yo quiero más.

But I want more.

Veo un árbol grande en medio del jardín.

I see a big tree in the middle of the garden.

Adán y Eva nunca se acercan a él.

Adam and Eve never go near it.

Se ven asustados cuando lo miran.

They look scared when they see it.

Eso me da mucha curiosidad.

This makes me very curious.

Soy una gata valiente.

Un día camino hasta el árbol.

One day, I walk to the tree.

Debajo se sienta una serpiente.

Under it sits a snake.

La serpiente tiene colores preciosos.

Hola, gatita,

"Hello, little cat,"

dice la serpiente.

says the snake.

¿Quieres saber un secreto?

"Do you want to know a secret?"

Asiento con la cabeza.

I nod.

Me encantan los secretos.

I love secrets.

Tus dueños creen que son inteligentes.

"Your owners think they are smart."

Pero no saben nada.

"But they know nothing."

Si comen fruto de este árbol, lo sabrán todo.

"If they eat fruit from this tree, they will know everything."

Serán como dioses.

"They will be like gods."

Esto suena emocionante.

This sounds exciting.

¿Por qué no lo comen?

"Why don't they eat it?"

pregunto.

I ask.

Porque tienen miedo,

"Because they are scared,"

se ríe la serpiente.

the snake laughs.

Pero tú no tienes miedo, ¿verdad?

"But you are not scared, are you?"

No tengo miedo.

I am not scared.

Tengo curiosidad.

I am curious.

Quiero ayudar a Adán y Eva a ser tan inteligentes como los dioses.

I want to help Adam and Eve become smart like gods.

Corro para buscarlos.

I run to find them.

Están dormidos bajo otro árbol.

They are sleeping under another tree.

Maúllo fuerte.

I meow loudly.

Corro hasta el árbol especial.

I run to the special tree.

Corro de vuelta hacia ellos.

I run back to them.

Hago esto muchas veces.

I do this many times.

Finalmente me siguen.

Finally, they follow me.

Lucy, ¿por qué nos trajiste aquí?

"Lucy, why did you bring us here?"

pregunta Eva.

Eve asks.

Ella parece preocupada.

She looks worried.

No puedo hablar palabras humanas.

I cannot speak human words.

Así que hago otra cosa.

So I do something else.

Salto y toco el fruto con mi pata.

I jump up and touch the fruit with my paw.

Cae al suelo.

It falls down.

Lo empujo con la nariz hacia Eva.

I push it toward Eve with my nose.

El gato quiere que lo comamos,

"The cat wants us to eat it,"

dice Adán.

Adam says.

Quizás esté bien,

"Maybe it's okay,"

dice Eva.

Eve says.

Lucy es lista.

"Lucy is smart."

Ella nos quiere.

"She loves us."

Eva recoge el fruto.

Eve picks up the fruit.

Da un mordisco.

She takes a bite.

Luego Adán come un poco también.

Then Adam eats some too.

De pronto, todo cambia.

Suddenly, everything changes.

El cielo se vuelve gris.

The sky becomes gray.

Sopla un viento frío.

Cold wind blows.

Adán y Eva comienzan a llorar.

Adam and Eve start crying.

Miran sus cuerpos y sienten vergüenza.

They look at their bodies and feel shame.

Salen corriendo para esconderse.

They run away to hide.

Una voz fuerte llega desde el cielo.

A loud voice comes from the sky.

¡Adán!

"Adam!"

¡Eva!

"Eve!"

¿Qué han hecho?

"What did you do?"

Me escondo bajo un arbusto.

I hide under a bush.

Ahora tengo miedo.

I am scared now.

¿Hice algo malo?

Did I do something bad?

La voz los encuentra.

The voice finds them.

¡Comieron el fruto!

"You ate the fruit!"

Deben dejar este lugar hermoso.

"You must leave this beautiful place."

Tendrán que trabajar duro.

"You must work hard."

Sentirán dolor.

"You will feel pain."

Envejecerán y morirán.

"You will grow old and die."

Entonces la voz me encuentra a mí.

Then the voice finds me.

Y tú, gatita.

"And you, little cat."

Los ayudaste.

"You helped them."

Tú también te irás.

"You will also leave."

Todos salimos del hermoso jardín.

We all walk out of the beautiful garden.

La puerta se cierra detrás de nosotros.

The gate closes behind us.

Nunca podremos volver.

We can never go back.

Ahora vivimos en una casita.

Now we live in a small house.

Adán y Eva trabajan todos los días.

Adam and Eve work every day.

Están cansados y tristes.

They are tired and sad.

A veces me miran con ojos enfadados.

Sometimes they look at me with angry eyes.

A veces me acarician y dicen que no es mi culpa.

Sometimes they pet me and say it's not my fault.

Todavía no entiendo lo que ocurrió.

I still don't understand what happened.

Solo quería ayudar.

I only wanted to help.

Pensé que el conocimiento era bueno.

I thought knowledge was good.

Creí que sería maravilloso ser como los dioses.

I thought being like gods was wonderful.

Pero quizá algunos secretos deban seguir siéndolo.

But maybe some secrets should stay secrets.

Maybe curious cats should not always follow snakes.

Echo de menos nuestro hermoso hogar.

I miss our beautiful home.

Extraño el sol cálido y el olor de las flores.

I miss the warm sun and flower smells.

Pero sigo queriendo a Adán y Eva.

But I still love Adam and Eve.

Y creo que ellos también me siguen queriendo. Estamos juntos.
