Mi nombre es Lucy. Soy una gata.

Veo un gran árbol en el centro del jardín.

I see a big tree in the middle of the garden.

Adán y Eva nunca se acercan a él.

Adam and Eve never go near it.

Se ven asustados cuando lo ven.

They look scared when they see it.

Un día, camino hacia el árbol.

One day, I walk to the tree.

Debajo de él se encuentra una serpiente.

Under it sits a snake.

The snake has beautiful colors.

"Hola, gatito,"

"Hello, little cat,"

dice la serpiente.

says the snake.

"Do you want to know a secret?"

Asiento con la cabeza.

"Your owners think they are smart."

"But they know nothing."

"If they eat fruit from this tree, they will know everything."

Serán como dioses.

"They will be like gods."

This sounds exciting.

¿Por qué no se lo comen?

"Why don't they eat it?"

I ask.

"Porque tienen miedo",

"Because they are scared,"

la serpiente se ríe.

the snake laughs.

"But you are not scared, are you?"

No tengo miedo.

I am not scared.

Tengo curiosidad.

I am curious.

Quiero ayudar a Adán y Eva a volverse sabios como los dioses.

I want to help Adam and Eve become smart like gods.

Corro a buscarlos.

I run to find them.

Están durmiendo bajo otro árbol.

They are sleeping under another tree.

Maúllo fuertemente.

I meow loudly.

Corro hacia el árbol especial.

I run to the special tree.

Corro de vuelta hacia ellos.

I run back to them.

Hago esto muchas veces.

I do this many times.

Finalmente, me siguen.

Finally, they follow me.

"Lucy, ¿por qué nos trajiste aquí?"

"Lucy, why did you bring us here?"

pregunta Eva.

Eve asks.

Se ve preocupada.

She looks worried.

No puedo pronunciar palabras humanas.

I cannot speak human words.

Así que hago algo más.

So I do something else.

Salto y toco la fruta con mi pata.

I jump up and touch the fruit with my paw.

Se cae.

It falls down.

Lo empujo hacia Eva con mi hocico.

I push it toward Eve with my nose.

"El gato quiere que nos lo comamos,"

"The cat wants us to eat it,"

dice Adam.

Adam says.

"Tal vez esté bien",

"Maybe it's okay,"

dice Eva.

Eve says.

"Lucy es inteligente."

"Lucy is smart."

Ella nos ama.

"She loves us."

Eva toma la fruta.

Eve picks up the fruit.

She takes a bite.

Then Adam eats some too.

De repente, todo cambia.

Suddenly, everything changes.

The sky becomes gray.

Cold wind blows.

Adán y Eva comienzan a llorar.

Adam and Eve start crying.

Miran sus cuerpos y sienten vergüenza.

They look at their bodies and feel shame.

Huyen para esconderse.

They run away to hide.

Una voz potente viene del cielo.

A loud voice comes from the sky.

¡Adán!

"Adam!"

"¡Eva!"

"Eve!"

"¿Qué hiciste?"

"What did you do?"

Me escondo bajo un arbusto.

I hide under a bush.

Ahora tengo miedo.

I am scared now.

¿Hice algo malo?

Did I do something bad?

La voz los encuentra.

The voice finds them.

¡Comiste la fruta!

"You ate the fruit!"

"Debes abandonar este hermoso lugar."

"You must leave this beautiful place."

"Debes trabajar arduamente."

"You must work hard."

Sentirás dolor.

"You will feel pain."

Envejecerás y morirás.

"You will grow old and die."

Entonces la voz me encuentra.

Then the voice finds me.

Y tú, gatito.

"And you, little cat."

"Tú los ayudaste."

"You helped them."

"Tú también te irás."

"You will also leave."

Todos salimos del hermoso jardín.

We all walk out of the beautiful garden.

La puerta se cierra detrás de nosotros.

The gate closes behind us.

Nunca podremos regresar.

We can never go back.

Ahora vivimos en una casa pequeña.

Now we live in a small house.

Adán y Eva trabajan todos los días.

Adam and Eve work every day.

Están cansados y tristes.

They are tired and sad.

A veces me miran con ojos airados.

Sometimes they look at me with angry eyes.

Sometimes they pet me and say it's not my fault.

I still don't understand what happened.
