The Miller, His Son, and Their Donkey
Un molinero y su hijo llevan su burro al mercado, pero pronto descubren que tratar de complacer a todas las personas que encuentran en el camino les trae problemas inesperados.

A miller and his son walked to town with their donkey.
Querían vender el burro en el mercado.
They wanted to sell the donkey at the market.

On the road, they met some people.
La gente dijo,
The people said,
"¡Eres tonto!"
"You are silly!"
"¿Por qué caminas cuando tienes un burro?"
"Why do you walk when you have a donkey?"
"¡Uno de ustedes debería montar el burro!"
"One of you should ride the donkey!"
El molinero le dijo a su hijo,
The miller told his son,
"Móntate en el burro."
"Get on the donkey."
El hijo se montó en el burro y continuaron caminando.
The son got on the donkey and they continued walking.
Pronto se encontraron con otras personas.
Soon they met other people.
Esta gente dijo,
These people said,
"¡Mira a ese muchacho perezoso!"
"Look at that lazy boy!"
Él va montado mientras su anciano padre camina.
"He rides while his old father walks."
¡El padre debería montar, no el hijo!
"The father should ride, not the son!"
El hijo se bajó del burro.
The son got off the donkey.

The miller got on the donkey.

They walked some more.
Entonces se encontraron con más gente.
Then they met more people.
Esta gente dijo,
These people said,
¡Qué mal padre!
"What a bad father!"

"He rides while his poor son walks in the hot sun!"
El molinero le dijo a su hijo,
The miller said to his son,
"Ven aquí conmigo."
"Come up here with me."
"Podemos montar los dos en el burro."
"We can both ride the donkey."
Tanto el molinero como su hijo se montaron en el burro.
Both the miller and his son got on the donkey.
El burro caminaba lentamente porque llevaba a dos personas.
The donkey walked slowly because it was carrying two people.

Later, they met another group of people.
Esta gente estaba enojada.
These people were angry.
Dijeron,
They said,
¡Hombres crueles!
"You cruel men!"
"¡Ese pobre burro es demasiado pequeño para cargar con los dos!"
"That poor donkey is too small to carry both of you!"
"¡Vas a lastimar al animal!"
"You will hurt the animal!"
El molinero y su hijo se bajaron del burro.
The miller and his son got off the donkey.

They thought about what to do.
Finalmente, ataron las patas del burro.
Finally, they tied the donkey's legs together.

They put a long stick through the ropes.

When they walked across a bridge, the donkey did not like being carried.

It kicked and moved around.

The miller and his son dropped the donkey.

The donkey fell into the river and ran away.
