El León Enfermo
The Sick Lion
Un león poderoso se enferma y debe quedarse en su cueva, pero descubre una manera astuta de seguir cazando a sus presas. Cuando un zorro sabio lo visita, nota algo extraño que le salva la vida.
Había una vez un león viejo.
Once there was an old lion.
Estaba muy enfermo y débil.
He was very sick and weak.
Ya no podía cazar para conseguir alimento.
He could not hunt for food anymore.
El león tenía mucha hambre.
The lion was very hungry.
Pensó en un plan para conseguir comida.
He thought of a plan to get food.
El león se adentró en su cueva.
The lion went into his cave.
Se acostó y fingió estar muy enfermo.
He lay down and pretended to be very sick.
Entonces gritó a todos los animales del bosque.
Then he called out to all the animals in the forest.
"Me estoy muriendo,"
"I am dying,"
dijo el león.
said the lion.
"Por favor, ven a despedirte de mí."
"Please come and say goodbye to me."
Los animales escucharon al león.
The animals heard the lion.
Sintieron lástima por él.
They felt sorry for him.
Uno a uno, vinieron a visitar al león enfermo en su cueva.
One by one, they came to visit the sick lion in his cave.
Primero llegó una oveja.
First came a sheep.
El león se comió la oveja.
The lion ate the sheep.
Entonces llegó una cabra.
Then came a goat.
El león también se comió la cabra.
The lion ate the goat too.
Muchos animales vinieron a la cueva.
Many animals came to the cave.
El león se los comió a todos.
The lion ate them all.
Un día, un zorro astuto se acercó a la cueva.
One day, a clever fox came near the cave.
El zorro miró al suelo.
The fox looked at the ground.
Vio muchas huellas que entraban en la cueva.
He saw many footprints going into the cave.
Pero no vio huellas que salieran de la cueva.
But he saw no footprints coming out of the cave.
El zorro pensó,
The fox thought,
"Esto es extraño."
"This is strange."
"Muchos animales entraron, pero ninguno salió."
"Many animals went in, but none came out."
El león llamó al zorro,
The lion called to the fox,
"Entra, querido zorro."
"Come in, dear fox."
"Ven y despídete de mí."
"Come and say goodbye to me."
Dijo el zorro,
The fox said,
—No, gracias.
"No, thank you."
"Puedo ver que muchos animales entraron en tu cueva."
"I can see that many animals went into your cave."
"Pero no veo que ninguno salga."
"But I don't see any coming out."
"Creo que en realidad no estás enfermo."
"I think you are not really sick."
"Solo tienes hambre y te estás comiendo a todos los que te visitan."
"You are just hungry and eating everyone who visits you."
El zorro huyó rápidamente.
The fox ran away quickly.
Les contó a todos los otros animales sobre el engaño del león.
He told all the other animals about the lion's trick.
Desde ese día, ningún animal más vino a visitar al león.
From that day, no more animals came to visit the lion.
El león tuvo que encontrar otra manera de conseguir alimento.
The lion had to find another way to get food.
