Un cuervo ve un hermoso cisne blanco y siente envidia de su apariencia. El cuervo decide intentar cambiarse para volverse tan hermoso como el cisne.

A crow saw a beautiful white swan swimming in a lake.
El cuervo contempló sus propias plumas negras.
The crow looked at his own black feathers.
Se sintió triste.
He felt sad.
"Quiero ser blanco y hermoso como el cisne,"
"I want to be white and beautiful like the swan,"
pensó el cuervo.

El cuervo observaba al cisne todos los días.
The crow watched the swan every day.
Vio al cisne lavándose en el agua limpia.
He saw the swan washing in the clean water.
"Tal vez lavarme me haga blanco también,"
"Maybe washing will make me white too,"
dijo el cuervo.
said the crow.
El cuervo abandonó su hogar en los árboles.
The crow left his home in the trees.
Se fue a vivir junto al agua.
He went to live by the water.
Cada día se lavaba sus plumas negras.
Every day he washed his black feathers.
Las frotaba y restregaba con fuerza.
He rubbed and scrubbed them hard.
Pero sus plumas permanecieron negras.
But his feathers stayed black.
El cuervo se puso muy delgado porque no pudo encontrar su alimento habitual cerca del agua.
The crow got very thin because he could not find his usual food near the water.
Se volvió débil y enfermo.
He became weak and sick.
Pronto el pobre cuervo murió.
Soon the poor crow died.
Sus plumas seguían siendo negras.
His feathers were still black.
