The Donkey and His Purchaser
Un hombre compra un burro y se lo lleva a casa para ver cómo se comportará con sus otros animales. Lo que el burro decida hacer determinará su futuro.
Un hombre fue a comprar un burro.
A man went to buy a donkey.
El vendedor dijo que el burro era muy bueno y trabajaba duro.
The seller said the donkey was very good and worked hard.
El hombre quiso probar el burro primero.
The man wanted to test the donkey first.
Llevó el burro a su granja por unos días.
He took the donkey to his farm for a few days.
En la granja, el burro vio muchos otros burros.
At the farm, the donkey saw many other donkeys.
Algunos burros estaban trabajando en los campos.
Some donkeys were working in the fields.
Otros burros cargaban bolsas pesadas.
Other donkeys were carrying heavy bags.
Pero el burro nuevo no quería trabajar.
But the new donkey did not want to work.
Se dirigió hacia los burros más perezosos.
He walked to the laziest donkeys.

These donkeys were sitting under a tree doing nothing.

The new donkey sat with them.

The man watched this.

He saw that his new donkey chose to be lazy.
El burro no quería trabajar ni ayudar.
The donkey did not want to work or help.
Al día siguiente, el hombre llevó el burro de vuelta al vendedor.
The next day, the man took the donkey back to the seller.
"No quiero este burro,"
"I don't want this donkey,"
dijo el hombre.
said the man.
"Ni siquiera necesité probarlo trabajando."
"I didn't even need to test him working."
¿Por qué no?
"Why not?"
preguntó el vendedor.
asked the seller.
"Observé a quiénes eligió como amigos,"
"I watched who he chose as friends,"
dijo el hombre.
said the man.
"Escogió los burros más perezosos."
"He picked the laziest donkeys."
Un burro que escoge amigos perezosos también será perezoso.
"A donkey who chooses lazy friends will be lazy too."
El hombre se marchó sin el burro.
The man left without the donkey.
