I am a small clock on Professor Tim's desk.

Jeden Tag beobachte ich ihn bei der Arbeit an seiner großen Maschine.

Every day, I watch him work on his big machine.

Manchmal spricht er mit mir.

He talks to me sometimes.

"Clocky, ich werde durch die Zeit reisen!"

"Clocky, I will travel through time!"

sagt er.

he says.

"Ich werde die Zukunft sehen!"

"I will see the future!"

Ich ticke und tocke.

I tick and tock.

Ich weiß über die Zeit Bescheid.

I know about time.

Die Zeit bewegt sich vorwärts.

Time moves forward.

Immer vorwärts.

Always forward.

Aber Professor Tim will durch die Zeit springen wie ein Kaninchen.

But Professor Tim wants to jump through time like a rabbit.

Eines Tages ist seine Maschine bereit.

One day, his machine is ready.

Sie sieht aus wie ein Stuhl mit vielen Lichtern und Rädern.

It looks like a chair with many lights and wheels.

Professor Tim sitzt darin.

Professor Tim sits in it.

Er drückt einen Knopf.

He pushes a button.

WUSCH!

WHOOSH!

Die Maschine verschwindet!

The machine disappears!

Ich bin allein auf dem Schreibtisch.

I am alone on the desk.

Ich fühle mich traurig.

I feel sad.

Wo ist mein Freund?

Where is my friend?

Viele Stunden vergehen.

Many hours pass.

Dann WUSCH!

Then WHOOSH!

Die Maschine kehrt zurück.

The machine comes back.

Aber Professor Tim sieht verängstigt aus.

But Professor Tim looks scared.

Seine Haare sind zerzaust.

His hair is messy.

Seine Kleidung ist schmutzig.

His clothes are dirty.

"Clocky!"

"Clocky!"

sagt er.

he says.

"Ich habe schreckliche Dinge gesehen!"

"I saw terrible things!"

"In der Zukunft leben die Menschen unter der Erde."

"In the future, people live underground."

Sie sind klein und schwach.

"They are small and weak."

Große Monster fressen sie!

"Big monsters eat them!"

Ich ticke schneller.

I tick faster.

Das klingt schlecht.

This sounds bad.

Die Sonne ist rot und stirbt,

"The sun is red and dying,"

sagt er.

he says.

"Die Welt ist kalt und dunkel."

"The world is cold and dark."

Die Zeit ist nicht gütig zu den Menschen.

"Time is not kind to humans."

Professor Tim zerschlägt seine Maschine mit einem Hammer.

Professor Tim breaks his machine with a hammer.

KRACH!

CRASH!

KNALL!

BANG!

"Manche Dinge sollten nicht gesehen werden,"

"Some things should not be seen,"

sagt er.

he says.

Jetzt verstehe ich.

Now I understand.

Die Zeit ist wie ein Fluss.

Time is like a river.

Wir können nur mit ihm schwimmen, nicht gegen ihn.

We can only swim with it, not against it.

Die Zukunft wird kommen, wenn sie kommt.

The future will come when it comes.

Professor Tim streichelt mich sanft.

Professor Tim pets me gently.

Ich ticke fröhlich. Tick-tack. Tick-tack.
