The fir tree always looked down at the bramble.

"Schau, wie groß ich bin!"

"Look how tall I am!"

sagte die Tanne.

"I reach up to the sky."

"You are so small and ugly."

The bramble bush stayed quiet.

It did not say anything back to the proud tree.

Eines Tages kamen Menschen in den Wald.

One day, men came to the forest.

Sie hatten große Äxte.

They had big axes.

Sie betrachteten alle Bäume.

They looked at all the trees.

Als sie die hohe Tanne sahen, lächelten sie.

When they saw the tall fir tree, they smiled.

"Dieser Baum ist perfekt!"

"This tree is perfect!"

sagte ein Mann.

said one man.

"Es ist so hoch und gerade."

"It is so tall and straight."
