Ein Affe lebte in einem großen Baum am Fluss.

A monkey lived in a big tree by the river.

Er war sehr glücklich.

He was very happy.

Jeden Tag aß er süße Früchte von seinem Baum.

Every day he ate sweet fruits from his tree.

Ein Krokodil lebte in dem Fluss.

A crocodile lived in the river.

Er war immer hungrig.

He was always hungry.

Eines Tages sah das Krokodil den Affen Früchte essen.

One day, the crocodile saw the monkey eating fruits.

"Hallo, Affe!"

"Hello, monkey!"

sagte das Krokodil.

said the crocodile.

"Diese Früchte sehen sehr gut aus."

"Those fruits look very good."

"Können Sie mir welche geben?"

"Can you give me some?"

Der Affe war freundlich.

The monkey was kind.

Er warf dem Krokodil einige Früchte zu.

He threw some fruits to the crocodile.

Das Krokodil fraß sie und lächelte.

The crocodile ate them and smiled.

"Die sind so süß!"

"These are so sweet!"

"Danke, Äffchen,"

"Thank you, monkey,"

sagte das Krokodil.

Jeden Tag gab der Affe dem Krokodil Früchte.

Every day, the monkey gave fruits to the crocodile.

Sie wurden Freunde.

They became friends.

Sie redeten und lachten zusammen.

They talked and laughed together.

Das Krokodil brachte seiner Frau einige Früchte nach Hause.

The crocodile took some fruits home to his wife.

Sie aß sie und sagte,

She ate them and said,

"Diese Früchte sind wunderbar!"

"These fruits are wonderful!"

Der Affe muss sehr gesund sein.

"The monkey must be very healthy."

"Ich will sein Herz essen!"

"I want to eat his heart!"

Das Krokodil wollte seinem Freund nicht wehtun.

The crocodile did not want to hurt his friend.

Aber seine Frau sagte,

"Wenn du mir nicht das Herz des Affen bringst, werde ich dich verlassen!"

"If you don't bring me the monkey's heart, I will leave you!"

Am nächsten Tag sagte das Krokodil zu dem Affen,

"Meine Frau möchte dich kennenlernen."

"My wife wants to meet you."

"Aber ich kann nicht schwimmen,"

"But I cannot swim,"

sagte der Affe.

"Don't worry."

"Du kannst auf meinem Rücken reiten,"

"You can ride on my back,"

sagte das Krokodil.

Der Affe sprang auf den Rücken des Krokodils.

The monkey jumped on the crocodile's back.

Sie gingen in den Fluss hinein.

They went into the river.

In der Mitte des Flusses sagte das Krokodil,

In the middle of the river, the crocodile said,

"Mein Freund, ich muss dir etwas sagen."

"My friend, I must tell you something."

"Meine Frau will dein Herz essen."

"My wife wants to eat your heart."

Der Affe hatte Angst, aber er war auch klug.

The monkey was scared but he was also smart.

Er sagte:

"Wir nehmen sie nur, wenn wir sie brauchen,"

"We only take them when we need them,"

sagte der Affe.

Das Krokodil glaubte dem Affen.

The crocodile believed the monkey.

Er schwamm schnell zurück zum Baum.

He swam back to the tree quickly.

Als sie den Baum erreichten, sprang der Affe vom Rücken des Krokodils.

When they reached the tree, the monkey jumped off the crocodile's back.

Er kletterte sehr schnell den Baum hinauf.

He climbed up the tree very fast.

"Komm mit deinem Herzen herunter!"

"Come down with your heart!"

rief das Krokodil.

shouted the crocodile.

Der Affe lachte.

The monkey laughed.

"Du dummes Krokodil!"

"You silly crocodile!"

"Wie kann ich ohne mein Herz leben?"

"How can I live without my heart?"

"Du wolltest mich töten, aber ich war klüger als du!"

"You wanted to kill me, but I was smarter than you!"

Das Krokodil wusste, dass es im Unrecht war.

The crocodile knew he was wrong.

Er schwamm traurig davon.

He swam away sadly.

Der Affe blieb sicher in seinem Baum.

The monkey stayed safe in his tree.
