Anansi and the Shapeshifter
Anansi la araña descubre que alguien en su pueblo no es quien parece ser. Debe usar toda su astucia para descubrir la verdad antes de que sea demasiado tarde.
Anansi la araña vivía en una aldea pequeña.
Anansi the spider lived in a small village.
Era muy listo, pero a veces perezoso.
He was very clever but sometimes lazy.

He always looked for easy ways to get food.
Un día, un hombre extraño llegó al pueblo.
One day, a strange man came to the village.
Este hombre podía convertirse en cualquier animal que quisiera.
This man could change into any animal he wanted.
La gente lo llamaba el Cambiaformas. El Cambiaformas era malvado.
The people called him the Shapeshifter. The Shapeshifter was mean.
Se convertía en un gran león para asustar a la gente.
He would change into a big lion to scare people.
Luego les quitaba la comida y el dinero.
Then he would take their food and money.
Todos tenían miedo.
All the people were afraid.
Le pidieron ayuda a Anansi.
They asked Anansi to help them.
«Detendré a este hombre malvado»,
"I will stop this bad man,"
dijo Anansi.
said Anansi.
«Pero necesito pensar en un buen plan.»
"But I need to think of a good plan."
Anansi observó al Cambiaformas durante muchos días.
Anansi watched the Shapeshifter for many days.
Vio que el hombre era muy orgulloso.
He saw that the man was very proud.
Le gustaba presumir de sus poderes mágicos.
He liked to show off his magic powers.
Anansi tuvo una idea.
Anansi had an idea.
Fue a ver al Cambiaformas.
He went to the Shapeshifter.
«Hola»,
"Hello,"
dijo Anansi.
said Anansi.
«Escuché que puedes transformarte en cualquier animal.»
"I heard you can change into any animal."
«¿Es cierto?»
"Is this true?"
«¡Sí!»
"Yes!"
dijo el Cambiaformas.
said the Shapeshifter.
«¡Soy el mejor!»
"I am the best!"
«¡Mírame!»
"Watch me!"
El Cambiaformas se convirtió en un gran elefante.
The Shapeshifter changed into a big elephant.
Luego se volvió un caballo veloz.
Then he became a fast horse.
Después se transformó en una serpiente aterradora.
Then he turned into a scary snake.
«Muy bien»,
"Very good,"
dijo Anansi.
said Anansi.
«¿Pero puedes convertirte también en animales muy pequeños?»
"But can you become very small animals too?"
«¡Por supuesto!»
"Of course!"
dijo el Cambiaformas.
said the Shapeshifter.
«¡Puedo ser lo que sea!»
"I can be anything!"
Se convirtió en un pajarito.
He changed into a small bird.
Luego se volvió un ratoncito.
Then he became a tiny mouse.
«¡Increíble!»
"Amazing!"
dijo Anansi.
said Anansi.
«Pero creo que hay algo que no puedes hacer.»
"But I think there is one thing you cannot do."
«¿Qué?»
"What?"
preguntó el Cambiaformas.
asked the Shapeshifter.
«¡Puedo hacerlo todo!»
"I can do everything!"
«¿Puedes volverte tan pequeño como una araña?»
"Can you become as small as a spider?"
preguntó Anansi.
asked Anansi.
«¡Facilísimo!»
"Easy!"
dijo el Cambiaformas.
said the Shapeshifter.
Se volvió cada vez más pequeño hasta convertirse en una diminuta araña.
He became smaller and smaller until he was a tiny spider.
Rápidamente, Anansi sacó un frasco pequeño.
Quickly, Anansi took out a small jar.
Atrapó a la diminuta araña dentro y cerró la tapa con fuerza.
He caught the tiny spider inside and closed the lid tight.
«¡Déjame salir!»
"Let me out!"
gritó el Cambiaformas desde dentro del frasco.
cried the Shapeshifter from inside the jar.
«No»,
"No,"
dijo Anansi.
said Anansi.
«Fuiste cruel con mi gente.»
"You were mean to my people."
«Ahora te quedarás en este frasco.»
"Now you must stay in this jar."
Anansi llevó el frasco muy lejos del pueblo.
Anansi took the jar far away from the village.
Lo puso bajo una gran roca donde nadie pudiera encontrarlo. El pueblo volvió a estar seguro.
He put it under a big rock where no one could find it. The village was safe again.
La gente agradeció a Anansi por ser tan inteligente y valiente.
The people thanked Anansi for being so smart and brave.
Desde aquel día, todos recordaron que ser demasiado orgulloso puede meterte en problemas.
From that day, everyone remembered that being too proud can get you into trouble.
Y a veces, la araña más pequeña puede atrapar al enemigo más grande.
And sometimes, the smallest spider can catch the biggest enemy.
