Anansi l'araignée veut découvrir qui sont ses vrais amis, alors il crée un test astucieux. Mais parfois les résultats d'un test peuvent être très surprenants.

"Can you bring me some water from the river?"
Lapin regarda Anansi.
Rabbit looked at Anansi.

"I am too busy today,"
dit Lapin.
said Rabbit.
« Peut-être demain. »
"Maybe tomorrow."
Alors Lapin s'enfuit.
Then Rabbit ran away.
Ensuite, Anansi alla voir Singe.
Next, Anansi went to Monkey.

"My friend,"

« Je suis très malade. »
"I am very sick."
J'ai besoin d'aide.
"I need help."
"Peux-tu m'apporter des fruits du grand arbre ?"

Singe regarda Anansi.
Monkey looked at Anansi.

« Je ne peux pas t'aider maintenant. »
"I cannot help you now."
Alors Singe s'élança au loin.
Then Monkey swung away.
Alors Anansi alla vers Éléphant.
Then Anansi went to Elephant.
Mon ami,
"My friend,"
dit Anansi,
said Anansi,
« Je suis très malade. »
"I am very sick."
J'ai besoin d'aide.
"I need help."
"Peux-tu m'aider à rentrer chez moi ?"
"Can you help me get home?"
Éléphant regarda Anansi.
Elephant looked at Anansi.
« Je rencontre d'autres amis aujourd'hui, »
"I am meeting other friends today,"
dit Éléphant.
said Elephant.
« Je suis trop occupé. »
"I am too busy."
Alors l'Éléphant s'éloigna.
Then Elephant walked away.
Anansi était triste.
Anansi was sad.
Aucun de ses amis ne voulait l'aider.
None of his friends wanted to help him.
Finalement, Anansi alla voir Tortue.
Finally, Anansi went to Turtle.
La Tortue était très lente et silencieuse.
Turtle was very slow and quiet.
Beaucoup d'animaux ne remarquaient pas Tortue.

Tortue resta avec Anansi toute la journée pour prendre soin de lui.
Turtle stayed with Anansi all day to take care of him.
Anansi se sentait mal à propos de son épreuve.
Anansi felt bad about his test.

Ce jour-là, Anansi apprit quelque chose d'important.

A real friend helps you when you need it.
Peu importe si vous avez beaucoup d'amis.
