Long ago, there lived a spider named Anansi.

Il était très intelligent mais aussi très avide.

He was very smart but also very greedy.

Anansi voulait toujours plus que ce qu'il possédait.

Anansi always wanted more than he had.

Un jour, Anansi entendit parler du Marcheur des Vents.

One day, Anansi heard about the Wind Walker.

Le Marcheur du Vent était un homme magique qui pouvait voler à travers le ciel.

The Wind Walker was a magic man who could fly through the sky.

Il avait un sac magique qui pouvait contenir le vent.

He had a special bag that could hold the wind.

Anansi désirait ce sac magique.

Anansi wanted this magic bag.

Il pensa,

He thought,

« Si j'ai ce sac, je peux contrôler le vent. »

"If I have that bag, I can control the wind."

"Je serai l'araignée la plus puissante du monde."

"I will be the most powerful spider in the world."

Alors Anansi élabora un plan.

So Anansi made a plan.

Il partit à la recherche du Marcheur de Vent.

He went to find the Wind Walker.

Il marcha pendant de nombreux jours à travers la forêt.

He walked for many days through the forest.

Finalement, il trouva la maison du Marcheur de Vent au sommet d'une haute montagne.

Finally, he found the Wind Walker's house on top of a tall mountain.

« Bonjour, Marcheur de Vent, »

"Hello, Wind Walker,"

dit Anansi.

« Je veux apprendre votre magie. »

"I want to learn your magic."

Le Marcheur des Vents enseigna à Anansi comment utiliser le sac magique.

Ne l'ouvre qu'un petit peu.

Mais Anansi n'écouta pas les paroles du Marcheur des Vents.

Il ouvrit complètement le sac.

Soudain, tout le vent s'échappa !

Le vent était si fort qu'il emporta Anansi haut dans le ciel.

The wind was so strong that it blew Anansi high into the sky.

Il l'emporta très, très loin de chez lui.

Le vent emporta aussi tous les arbres et toutes les maisons du village.

The wind also blew away all the trees and houses in the village.

Les gens étaient très en colère et effrayés.

The people were very angry and scared.

Anansi tenta de fermer le sac, mais il était trop tard.

Anansi tried to close the bag, but it was too late.

Il ne pouvait plus maîtriser le vent.

He could not control the wind anymore.

Il tomba à terre, très loin de chez lui.

He fell down to the ground, very far from home.

Anansi dut marcher pendant de nombreux mois pour retourner à son village.

Anansi had to walk for many months to get back to his village.

Quand il arriva, tout le monde était en colère contre lui.

When he arrived, everyone was angry with him.

Ils durent construire de nouvelles maisons et planter de nouveaux arbres.

They had to build new houses and plant new trees.

Anansi apprit que l'avidité apporte des ennuis.

Anansi learned that being greedy brings trouble.

Il apprit aussi qu'il devrait écouter les conseils avisés.

He also learned that he should listen to wise advice.

À partir de ce jour, Anansi essaya d'aider les autres au lieu de ne penser qu'à lui-même.

From that day, Anansi tried to help others instead of only thinking about himself.

Le vent souffle encore fort parfois.

The wind still blows strong sometimes.

Les gens disent que c'est parce qu'Anansi a ouvert le sac magique il y a longtemps.

People say it is because Anansi opened the magic bag long ago.
