Long ago, there lived a spider named Anansi.

Ele era muito esperto e sabia muitas coisas.

He was very clever and knew many things.

Um dia, Anansi encontrou toda a sabedoria do mundo.

One day, Anansi found all the wisdom in the world.

Ele a colocou em um grande pote de barro.

He put it in a big clay pot.

"Agora eu sou o mais inteligente!"

"Now I am the smartest!"

disse ele.

"Guardarei toda essa sabedoria para mim."

"I will keep all this wisdom for myself."

Anansi queria esconder o pote onde ninguém pudesse encontrá-lo.

Anansi wanted to hide the pot where no one could find it.

Ele olhou ao redor e viu uma árvore muito alta.

He looked around and saw a very tall tree.

"Vou colocar o pote no topo desta árvore,"

"I will put the pot at the top of this tree,"

pensou ele.

he thought.

Anansi amarrou uma corda ao redor do pote.

Anansi tied a rope around the pot.

Então ele amarrou o pote à sua barriga.

Then he tied the pot to his belly.

Ele começou a subir na árvore.

He began to climb the tree.

Mas o pote era grande e pesado.

But the pot was big and heavy.

Continuava batendo na árvore.

It kept hitting the tree.

Anansi não conseguia subir bem.

Anansi could not climb well.

Seu filho pequeno estava observando.

His young son was watching.

"Pai,"

"Father,"

chamou o menino,

called the boy,

"por que você não amarra o pote nas suas costas?"

"why don't you tie the pot to your back?"

"Assim você pode subir melhor."

"Then you can climb better."

Anansi parou.

Anansi stopped.

Seu filho estava certo!

His son was right!

A ideia do menino foi muito inteligente.

The boy's idea was very smart.

Mas Anansi estava confuso.

But Anansi was confused.

"Eu tenho toda a sabedoria neste pote,"

In his anger, he threw the pot down from the tree.

O pote se quebrou em muitos pedaços.

The pot broke into many pieces.

Toda a sabedoria voou para fora.

All the wisdom flew out.

O vento carregou a sabedoria por todo o mundo.

The wind carried the wisdom all around the world.

Ela chegou a cada pessoa, cada animal e cada lugar.

It went to every person, every animal, and every place.

É por isso que hoje, todos têm alguma sabedoria.

That is why today, everyone has some wisdom.

No one person can have all the wisdom in the world.
