She remembered all the stories, songs, and wisdom of the people.

Todos vinham até ela quando esqueciam algo importante.

Everyone came to her when they forgot something important.

Anansi observava a velha mulher todos os dias.

Anansi watched the old woman every day.

Ele viu como as pessoas a amavam e respeitavam.

He saw how people loved and respected her.

Ele ficou com ciúmes.

He became jealous.

"Eu deveria ser aquele que tem todas as memórias,"

"I should be the one with all the memories,"

pensou ele.

he thought.

"Então todos virão até mim."

"Then everyone will come to me."

Uma noite, Anansi foi à casa do Guardião da Memória.

One night, Anansi went to the Memory Keeper's house.

Ele encontrou um pote especial onde ela guardava todas as memórias.

He found a special pot where she kept all the memories.

O pote brilhava com uma luz suave.

The pot glowed with a soft light.

Anansi pegou o pote e fugiu correndo.

Anansi took the pot and ran away.

"Agora eu tenho todo o conhecimento!"

"Now I have all the knowledge!"

disse Anansi alegremente.

Anansi said happily.

"Eu serei a pessoa mais importante da aldeia."

"I will be the most important person in the village."

Mas o pote estava muito pesado.

But the pot was very heavy.

Anansi decidiu escondê-lo no topo de uma árvore alta.

Anansi decided to hide it at the top of a tall tree.

Ele amarrou o pote à barriga e começou a subir.

He tied the pot to his belly and started to climb.

O pote continuava batendo na árvore.

The pot kept hitting the tree.

Subir era muito difícil.

Climbing was very difficult.

Um menino pequeno passou por ali e viu Anansi lutando.

A small boy walked by and saw Anansi struggling.

"Tio Anansi,"

"Uncle Anansi,"

disse o menino,

the boy said,

"por que você não amarra o pote nas suas costas?"

"why don't you tie the pot to your back?"

"Será mais fácil subir."

"It will be easier to climb."

Anansi parou de subir.

Anansi stopped climbing.

O menino estava certo!

The boy was right!

Mas então Anansi sentiu-se muito tolo.

But then Anansi felt very foolish.

Ele havia roubado toda a sabedoria, mas uma pequena criança era mais esperta que ele.

He had stolen all the wisdom, but a small child was smarter than him.

Anansi ficou tão furioso e envergonhado que atirou o pote ao chão.

Anansi became so angry and embarrassed that he threw the pot down.

Quebrou-se em muitos pedaços.

It broke into many pieces.

Todas as memórias voaram para fora como borboletas e se espalharam por toda parte.

All the memories flew out like butterflies and spread everywhere.

As lembranças foram para todas as pessoas da aldeia.

The memories went to all the people in the village.

Agora todos tinham alguma sabedoria e conhecimento.

Now everyone had some wisdom and knowledge.

Nenhuma pessoa tinha tudo.

No one person had everything.

O Guardião da Memória não estava zangado.

The Memory Keeper was not angry.

Ela sorriu e disse,

She smiled and said,

"É assim que deve ser."

"This is how it should be."

"O conhecimento pertence a todos, não apenas a uma pessoa."

"Knowledge belongs to everyone, not just one person."

A partir daquele dia, as pessoas compartilharam suas histórias e sabedoria umas com as outras.

From that day, people shared their stories and wisdom with each other.

Anansi aprendeu que ser ganancioso só trouxe problemas.

Anansi learned that being greedy only brought trouble.

Ele aprendeu que compartilhar conhecimento tornava todos mais fortes e sábios.

He learned that sharing knowledge made everyone stronger and wiser.

E é por isso que hoje, nenhuma pessoa sabe tudo.

And that is why today, no one person knows everything.

Todos nós temos conhecimentos diferentes, e devemos compartilhá-los com os outros.

We all have different knowledge, and we must share it with others.
