Anansi e lo Specchio Magico

Molto tempo fa, viveva un ragno di nome Anansi.

Long ago, there lived a spider named Anansi.

Era molto intelligente ma anche molto avido.

He was very clever but also very greedy.

Anansi voleva sempre più cose per se stesso.

Anansi always wanted more things for himself.

Un giorno, Anansi trovò uno specchio magico nella foresta.

One day, Anansi found a magic mirror in the forest.

Lo specchio era bello e lucido.

The mirror was beautiful and shiny.

Quando ci guardò dentro, vide qualcosa di straordinario.

When he looked into it, he saw something amazing.

Lo specchio gli mostrò tutta la saggezza del mondo.

The mirror showed him all the wisdom in the world.

"Questo è meraviglioso!"

"This is wonderful!"

disse Anansi.

said Anansi.

"Ora sarò la persona più intelligente del mondo."

"Now I will be the smartest person in the world."

"Ma devo tenere questo specchio al sicuro."

"But I must keep this mirror safe."

Non voglio che nessun altro lo usi.

"I don't want anyone else to use it."

Anansi decise di nascondere lo specchio in cima a un albero alto.

Anansi decided to hide the mirror at the top of a tall tree.

Legò lo specchio al petto con una corda.

He tied the mirror to his chest with rope.

Poi iniziò ad arrampicarsi sull'albero.

Then he started to climb the tree.

Ma arrampicarsi era molto difficile con lo specchio sul petto.

But climbing was very hard with the mirror on his chest.

Anansi continuava a scivolare giù.

Anansi kept slipping down.

He tried many times but could not reach the top.

A small boy was watching Anansi.

The mirror broke into many small pieces.

I pezzi volarono ovunque nel mondo.

The pieces flew everywhere around the world.

This is why all people have some wisdom.

Everyone got a small piece of the magic mirror.

Some people have more wisdom, some have less, but everyone has some.

And Anansi learned that keeping good things for yourself is not always the best idea.
