Anansi could not climb up to get the nuts.

Anansi pensò a un piano.

Anansi thought of a plan.

Chiamò l'Elefante.

He called to Elephant.

"Amico Elefante, puoi aiutarmi?"

"Friend Elephant, can you help me?"

"Voglio le noci di cola da questo albero."

"I want the kola nuts from this tree."

Tu sei grande e forte.

"You are big and strong."

Puoi scuotere l'albero per me?

"Can you shake the tree for me?"

L'elefante era gentile.

Elephant was kind.

He pushed the tree with his big body.

Lo scosse con forza.

He shook it hard.

Molte noci di cola caddero a terra.

Many kola nuts fell down to the ground.

"Grazie, Elefante,"

"Thank you, Elephant,"

disse Anansi.

said Anansi.

Condividiamo queste noci.

"Let us share these nuts."

"Condividiamo queste noci."

"You take half and I will take half."

Ma Anansi era avido.

But Anansi was greedy.

Non voleva condividere.

He did not want to share.

When Elephant was not looking, Anansi took all the nuts.

He put them in his bag and ran away.

L'Elefante tornò e non vide noci a terra.

Elephant came back and saw no nuts on the ground.

Era triste e arrabbiato.

He was sad and angry.

Anansi lo aveva ingannato.

Anansi had tricked him.

The next day, Anansi was hungry again.

Tornò all'albero di cola.

He went back to the kola tree.

Questa volta vide la Scimmia sull'albero.

This time he saw Monkey in the tree.

"Amica Scimmia,"

"Friend Monkey,"

chiamato Anansi.

called Anansi.

Puoi aiutarmi?

"Can you help me?"

"Per favore, getta giù alcune noci di cola."

"Please throw down some kola nuts."

Ho molta fame.

"I am very hungry."

Anche la scimmia era gentile.

Monkey was kind too.

He picked many nuts and threw them down to Anansi.

"Grazie, Scimmia,"

"Thank you, Monkey,"

said Anansi.

"Let us share these nuts together."

"Condividiamo queste noci insieme."

But again, Anansi was greedy.

Ma ancora una volta, Anansi era avido.

When Monkey came down from the tree, all the nuts were gone.

Anansi had taken them all and run away.

Monkey was very angry.

He told Elephant what happened.

They decided to teach Anansi a lesson.

The next day, Elephant and Monkey waited by the kola tree.

Soon Anansi came back.

He was hungry again.

"Friends!"

called Anansi.

"Can you help me get more nuts?"

"Puoi aiutarmi a prendere altre noci?"

"Yes,"

"Sì,"

said Elephant.

"But this time, we will divide the nuts in a fair way."

Elephant shook the tree.

Monkey picked the nuts.

They made three piles of nuts on the ground.

"Here, Anansi,"

said Monkey.

"Choose your pile first."

Anansi looked at the three piles.

He wanted the biggest pile.

He pointed to it quickly.

"I choose this one,"

said Anansi. But when Anansi opened his pile, he found only empty shells.

All the good nuts were in the other two piles.

Elephant and Monkey laughed.

"This is what happens when you are greedy, Anansi."

"You tricked us before."

"Now you get nothing."

Anansi felt ashamed.

He learned that being greedy and tricking friends was wrong.

From that day, Anansi always shared fairly with others.
