Era uma vez uma aranha chamada Anansi.

Once upon a time, there lived a spider named Anansi.

Ele era muito esperto, mas às vezes ganancioso.

He was very clever but sometimes greedy.

Um dia, Anansi ouviu falar de uma harpa mágica.

One day, Anansi heard about a magic harp.

Esta harpa podia fazer música bela.

This harp could make beautiful music.

Quando tocava, todos os animais se sentiam felizes e em paz.

When it played, all the animals felt happy and peaceful.

A harpa pertencia ao Deus do Céu. Anansi queria a harpa para si.

The harp belonged to the Sky God. Anansi wanted the harp for himself.

Ele pensou,

He thought,

"Se eu tiver esta harpa, todos me amarão."

"If I have this harp, everyone will love me."

Então Anansi fez um plano.

So Anansi made a plan.

Ele subiu até o céu usando sua teia.

He climbed up to the sky using his web.

Ele estava muito quieto.

He was very quiet.

Quando o Deus do Céu estava dormindo, Anansi pegou a harpa.

When the Sky God was sleeping, Anansi took the harp.

Anansi trouxe a harpa para a terra.

Anansi brought the harp down to earth.

Ele estava tão animado.

He was so excited.

Mas quando tentou tocá-la, a harpa não produziu som algum.

But when he tried to play it, the harp made no sound.

Não funcionaria para ele.

It would not work for him.

Anansi tentou repetidas vezes.

Anansi tried again and again.

Ainda nada.

Still nothing.

Ele ficou irritado e balançou a harpa.

He became angry and shook the harp.

Mas ela permaneceu em silêncio.

But it stayed silent.

Então uma coruja velha e sábia veio até Anansi.

Then an old wise owl came to Anansi.

"A harpa só toca para aqueles que compartilham,"

"The harp only plays for those who share,"

disse a coruja.

said the owl.

"Você o pegou para guardar para si mesmo."

"You took it to keep for yourself."

"É por isso que não vai cantar."

"That is why it will not sing."

Anansi pensou sobre isso.

Anansi thought about this.

Ele percebeu que estava errado.

He realized he was wrong.

Ele subiu de volta ao céu e devolveu a harpa ao Deus do Céu. O Deus do Céu ficou surpreso.

He climbed back up to the sky and returned the harp to the Sky God. The Sky God was surprised.

"Por que você a trouxe de volta?"

"Why did you bring it back?"

perguntou ele.

"Aprendi que algumas coisas são feitas para serem compartilhadas, não possuídas,"

"I learned that some things are meant to be shared, not owned,"

disse Anansi. O Deus do Céu sorriu.

said Anansi. The Sky God smiled.

"Você aprendeu sabedoria, Anansi."

"You have learned wisdom, Anansi."

"Podes visitar e tocar a harpa quando quiseres, mas ela deve permanecer aqui para que todos possam desfrutar."

"You may visit and play the harp anytime, but it must stay here for everyone to enjoy."

A partir daquele dia, Anansi visitaria o céu e tocaria a harpa.

From that day on, Anansi would visit the sky and play the harp.

A bela música flutuou até a terra, fazendo todos os animais felizes.

The beautiful music floated down to earth, making all the animals happy.

E Anansi aprendeu que compartilhar traz mais alegria do que guardar as coisas para si mesmo.

And Anansi learned that sharing brings more joy than keeping things for yourself.
