I watch from my hole in the wall.

The friend tries to help Roderick feel better.

They read books together and paint pictures.

Then something terrible happens.

Madeline morre.

Madeline dies.

Roderick and his friend put Madeline in a box.

They carry the box down to the basement.

I follow them.

They put the box on a stone table and leave.

But I stay.

For many days, I hear Madeline trying to get out.

The tapping gets louder.

More days pass.

Então, numa noite, há uma grande tempestade.

Then one night, there is a big storm.

A chuva bate forte nas janelas.

Rain hits the windows hard.

Wind shakes the house.

De repente, ouço um ESTALO alto!

Suddenly, I hear a loud CRACK!

A caixa no porão se rompe e se abre!

The box in the basement breaks open!

Madeline sai de dentro.

Madeline climbs out.

Mas agora ela parece muito zangada e muito assustadora.

But now she looks very angry and very scary.

Ela sobe as escadas como um zumbi.

She walks upstairs like a zombie.

Ela encontra Roderick em seu quarto com seu amigo.

She finds Roderick in his room with his friend.

Quando Roderick a vê, ele grita e cai morto.

When Roderick sees her, he screams and falls down dead.

Ele morre de tanto medo.

He dies from being too scared.

Madeline também cai.

Madeline falls down too.

Agora ela está realmente morta.

Now she is really dead.

O amigo foge muito rapidamente.

The friend runs away very fast.

Corro atrás dele porque não quero mais ficar nesta casa.

I run after him because I do not want to stay in this house anymore.

Quando corremos para fora, toda a casa desaba.

As we run outside, the whole house falls down.

CRASH!

Todas as velhas muralhas se rompem.

All the old walls break.

Todas as pedras antigas caem.

All the old stones fall.

O amigo continua correndo.

The friend keeps running.

Mas eu paro e olho para trás.

But I stop and look back.

A casa desapareceu.

The house is gone.

Restam apenas pedras quebradas.

Only broken stones are left.

Estou triste.

I am sad.

Aquela foi minha casa por tanto tempo.

That was my home for so long.

Mas talvez seja melhor assim.

But maybe it is better this way.

Algumas casas guardam tristeza demais em seu interior.

Some houses hold too much sadness inside.
