My name is Whiskers.
Eu sou o gato do palácio.
I am the palace cat.
Eu vejo tudo.
I see everything.
Eu conheço todos os segredos.
I know all the secrets.
O rei come sozinho todos os dias.
The king eats alone every day.
Ele tranca a porta.
He locks his door.
Ninguém pode entrar.
No one can come in.
Mas eu sou pequeno.
But I am small.
Eu me escondo debaixo da sua cadeira grande.
I hide under his big chair.
Todos os dias, um homem traz ao rei uma tigela de prata.
Every day, a man brings the king a silver bowl.
A tigela tem uma tampa branca por cima.
The bowl has a white cover on top.
O rei espera.
The king waits.
O homem vai embora.
The man goes away.
Então o rei abre a tigela.
Then the king opens the bowl.
Dentro da tigela há uma cobra branca!
Inside the bowl is a white snake!
O rei come a serpente.
The king eats the snake.
Todos os dias, a mesma coisa.
Every day, the same thing.
Depois que ele come a serpente, algo estranho acontece.
After he eats the snake, something strange happens.
O rei consegue compreender todos os animais.
The king can understand all animals.
Ele fala com os pássaros do lado de fora da sua janela.
He talks to the birds outside his window.
Ele escuta os ratos nas paredes.
He listens to the mice in the walls.
Mas ele não sabe que estou aqui.
But he does not know I am here.
Um dia, eu sigo o homem que traz a tigela.
One day, I follow the man who brings the bowl.
O nome dele é Tom.
His name is Tom.
Ele trabalha na cozinha.
He works in the kitchen.
Tom está muito curioso sobre a serpente branca.
Tom is very curious about the white snake.
Ele também quer experimentá-la.
He wants to try it too.
Quando ninguém está olhando, Tom pega um pequeno pedaço da serpente branca.
When no one is looking, Tom takes a small piece of the white snake.
Ele a come rapidamente.
He eats it quickly.
De repente, Tom consegue me ouvir!
Suddenly, Tom can hear me!
Ele me olha de cima com olhos arregalados.
He looks down at me with big eyes.

"Did you just say hello?"
Tom me pergunta.
Tom asks me.

"I have been waiting so long to talk to someone!"
Tom fica muito surpreso.
Tom is very surprised.
Mas ele também está feliz.
But he is also happy.
Agora ele tem um amigo secreto.
Now he has a secret friend.
Juntos, resolvemos muitos problemas no palácio.
Together, we solve many problems in the palace.
Quando a rainha perde o seu anel, as formigas nos dizem onde ele está.
When the queen loses her ring, the ants tell us where it is.
Quando a princesa está triste, os pássaros nos dizem o porquê.
When the princess is sad, the birds tell us why.
Tom torna-se o ajudante mais sábio do palácio.
Tom becomes the smartest helper in the palace.
Todos pensam que ele é mágico.
Everyone thinks he is magic.
Mas na verdade, ele apenas nos escuta, a nós animais.
But really, he just listens to us animals.
