Тепер вона мешкає з мачухою та двома зведеними сестрами.
Now she lives with her stepmother and two stepsisters.

Щоранку я бачу, як Попелюшка миє вікна.
Every morning, I see Cinderella cleaning the windows.

А тим часом її зведені сестри сплять до полудня й фарбують нігті.
Meanwhile, her stepsisters sleep until noon and paint their nails.

She had to help them get ready.

Розділ 3: Ось де починається диво!
Chapter 3: Magic Happens!
З’явилася літня жінка!
The night of the ball, I was walking my dog past Cinderella's house.
У руках — чарівна паличка та добра усмішка.
I heard crying from the garden.
Попелюшка сиділа біля старого колодязя зі сльозами на обличчі.
There was Cinderella, sitting by the old well, tears on her face.
Раптом повітря засвітилося іскрами!
Suddenly, the air started to sparkle!
З’явилася літня жінка!
An old woman appeared!
У руках — чарівна паличка та добра усмішка.
She had a magic wand and a kind smile.
ПУФ!
"I am your Fairy Godmother," she said.
Вона сяяла небесною блакиттю та зоряними іскрами!
"Why are you crying, dear child?" "I want to go to the ball," said Cinderella.
На ногах з'явилися скляні туфельки — справжнє диво майстрів!
"But I have no pretty dress and no way to get there."
«Тепер ти можеш іти на бал!» — мовила фея.
The Fairy Godmother smiled.
«Ми це виправимо!» — вона навела паличку на величезний гарбуз.
"We can fix that!" She pointed her wand at a big pumpkin.
ПУФ!
POOF!
Із нього постала розкішна золота карета!
It became a beautiful golden carriage!
Вона торкнулася мишей.
She touched some mice.
ПУФ!
POOF!
Вони стали білими кіньми!
They became white horses!
Вона навіть пацюка перетворила на кучера!
She even turned a rat into a driver!
Потім фея навела паличку на Попелюшку.
Then she pointed her wand at Cinderella.
ПУФ!
POOF!
Її стара сукня перетворилася на найгарніший бальний убір у світі!
Her old dress became the most beautiful ball gown in the world!
Вона сяяла небесною блакиттю та зоряними іскрами!
It was blue like the sky and sparkled like stars!
На ногах з'явилися скляні туфельки — справжнє диво майстрів!
On her feet appeared glass slippers - the most beautiful shoes ever made!
«Тепер ти можеш іти на бал!» — мовила фея.
"Now you can go to the ball!" said the Fairy Godmother.
«Але пам’ятай: рівно опівночі чари зникнуть.
"But remember - the magic ends at midnight.

They talked and laughed.

The Prince forgot about all the other women at the ball.

He only wanted to dance with the mysterious beautiful girl.
Зведені сестри аж зеленіли від заздрощів!
The stepsisters were so jealous!

They tried to get the Prince's attention, but he didn't even look at them!

Chapter 5: Midnight Strikes!
За хвилину до опівночі Попелюшка почула палацовий годинник.
Just before midnight, Cinderella heard the palace clock.

«О ні!
"Oh no!
Мені треба тікати!» — вигукнула вона Принцю й кинулася до виходу.
I must go!" she said to the Prince. She ran away so fast!
Принц намагався наздогнати її, та вона була надто швидка.
The Prince tried to follow her, but she was too quick.
На сходах вона загубила одну скляну туфельку.
As she ran down the palace steps, one of her glass slippers fell off.
Принц підняв її. «Стій!» — гукнув він.
The Prince picked it up. "Wait!" he called.
«Я навіть твого імені не знаю!» Але Попелюшка вже застрибнула в карету й щезла в ніч.
"I don't even know your name!" But Cinderella was already in her carriage, riding away into the night.
Щойно пробило дванадцяту, чари розвіялися.
Just as the clock struck twelve, the magic ended.
Карета знову стала гарбузом.
The carriage became a pumpkin again.
Коні обернулися на мишей.
The horses became mice.
А Попелюшка опинилася в своїй старій одежині.
And Cinderella was back in her old clothes.
Та одну скляну туфельку вона зберегла.
But she kept one glass slipper.
Другу забрав Принц. Розділ 6: Велике полювання на туфельку!

Наступного ранку все село гуло від новин!
The next morning, the whole village was talking!

The Prince was looking for the mystery girl!

He would marry whoever could wear the glass slipper!
Він обійшов кожну оселю королівства.
He went to every house in the kingdom.
Кожна дівчина приміряла туфельку.
Every young woman tried on the shoe.
Та однім вона була мала, іншим — завелика.
But it was too small for some and too big for others.
Нарешті Принц дістався дому Попелюшки.
Finally, he came to Cinderella's house.
Ох, зведені сестри аж пищали від збудження!
Oh, the stepsisters were so excited!
Перша приміряла туфельку.
The first stepsister tried the shoe.
Тиснула й тиснула, та нога завелика!

Друга теж спробувала.

Ти та сама красуня з балу!» Зведені сестри й мачуха мало не зомліли!
You are the beautiful girl from the ball!" The stepmother and stepsisters couldn't believe it!
Їхня служниця виявилась загадковою принцесою!
Their servant girl was the mystery princess!
Попелюшка дістала з кишені другу туфельку.
Cinderella pulled out the other glass slipper from her pocket.
І вона теж ідеально підійшла!
It fit perfectly too!
Принц освідчився Попелюшці.
The Prince asked Cinderella to marry him.
Вона відповіла згодою!
She said yes!
Вони справили найгарніше весілля в королівстві.
They had the most beautiful wedding in the kingdom.

Even the stepfamily was invited - though they weren't very happy about it!

Служниця стала принцесою!
The servant girl became a princess!

Попелюшка та Принц жили довго й щасливо.
Cinderella and the Prince lived happily ever after.
І щоразу, минаючи палац, я згадую ніч, коли здійснилися мрії!
