The two goats
In una valle pacifica, due capre si trovano sui lati opposti di un ponte stretto. Entrambi sono desiderosi di attraversare verso l'altro lato, ma il ponte è troppo stretto perché possano passare allo stesso tempo. Mentre si incontrano a metà strada, affrontano una sfida che insegnerà loro una preziosa lezione sulla pazienza e la gentilezza.
C'erano una volta due capre.
Once upon a time, there were two goats.
Vivevano sui lati opposti di una valle.
They lived on opposite sides of a valley.
Un giorno, entrambe le capre volevano attraversare un ponte stretto che passava sopra un fiume profondo.
One day, both goats wanted to cross a narrow bridge that went over a deep river.
Il ponte era così stretto che solo una capra alla volta poteva attraversarlo.
The bridge was so narrow that only one goat could cross at a time.
La prima capra iniziò ad attraversare il ponte da un lato.
The first goat started to cross the bridge from one side.
Allo stesso tempo, la seconda capra iniziò ad attraversare dall'altro lato.
At the same time, the second goat started to cross from the other side.
Quando si incontrarono a metà strada, si fermarono entrambi.
When they met in the middle, they both stopped.
Non c'era abbastanza spazio perché entrambi potessero passare.
There was not enough room for both of them to pass.
Hanno iniziato a litigare.
They started to argue.
"Dovrei andare per primo!" disse la prima capra.
"I should go first!" said the first goat.
"No, dovrei andare prima io!" disse la seconda capra.
"No, I should go first!" said the second goat.
Si spingevano e si urtavano, cercando di superarsi a vicenda.
They pushed and shoved, trying to get past each other.
All'improvviso, entrambi persero l'equilibrio e caddero nel fiume sottostante.
Suddenly, they both lost their balance and fell into the river below.
La corrente era forte, e faticarono a nuotare.
The current was strong, and they struggled to swim.
Fortunatamente, alcune persone gentili li videro e li aiutarono a uscire dall'acqua.
Luckily, some kind people saw them and helped them out of the water.
Le capre erano al sicuro ma molto bagnate e stanche.
The goats were safe but very wet and tired.
Si resero conto che il loro litigio li aveva fatti cadere.
They realized that their arguing had caused them to fall.
Decisero di essere più attenti e cortesi in futuro.
They decided to be more careful and polite in the future.
Da quel giorno in poi, ogni volta che si incontravano sul ponte, uno si faceva da parte e lasciava passare prima l'altro.
From that day on, whenever they met on the bridge, one would step aside and let the other pass first.
Hanno imparato che è meglio essere gentili e pazienti piuttosto che spingere e litigare.
They learned that it's better to be kind and patient than to push and argue.
