She smiled.

Ze glimlachte.

"Beautiful day, isn't it?" "Yes," said Anna.

"Een prachtige dag, nietwaar?" "Ja", zei Anna.

"Much better than yesterday."

Veel beter dan gisteren.

"The rain was terrible," the waitress said.

"De regen was verschrikkelijk", zei de serveerster.

"I got completely wet walking to work."

"Ik werd helemaal nat op weg naar mijn werk".

"At least it's sunny now," said Tom. the waitress took out her small notebook.

"Tenminste het is nu zonnig", zei Tom. De serveerster nam haar kleine notitieboekje.

"What can I get you?" "Coffee for me," said Anna.

"Wat wil je?" "Koffie voor mij", zei Anna.

"Black."

Zwart.

"Same here," said Tom. "I'll have coffee with milk," said Sarah.

"Zelfde hier", zei Tom. "Ik wil koffie met melk", zei Sarah.

"And do you have any cakes?" "We have chocolate cake and lemon cake," the waitress said.

"En hebben jullie nog koekjes?" "We hebben chocoladekoek en citroenkoek", zei de serveerster.

"Both are very good.

"Beide zijn erg goed.

I had the chocolate cake yesterday."

Ik heb gisteren de chocoladetaart gehad".

"Was it good?" asked Sarah. "Very good.

"Was het lekker?" vroeg Sarah. "Heel goed.

Sweet but not too sweet."

Lief, maar niet te lief".

"I'll try the chocolate cake then."

"Dan probeer ik de chocoladetaart".

"Anyone else want cake?" the waitress asked.

"Wil er nog iemand taart?" vroeg de serveerster.

Anna looked at Tom.

Anna keek naar Tom.

Tom looked at Anna. "Why not?" said Anna.

Tom keek naar Anna. "Waarom niet?" zei Anna.

"Two chocolate cakes."

Twee chocoladetaartjes.

"Perfect," said the waitress.

"Perfect", zei de serveerster.

She wrote in her notebook.

Ze schreef in haar notitieboek.

"Three coffees and three chocolate cakes."

Drie koffie en drie chocoladetaartjes.

She walked away toward the kitchen.

Ze liep weg naar de keuken.

Her shoes made soft sounds on the wooden floor.

Haar schoenen maakten zachte geluiden op de houten vloer.

"This place is nice," said Sarah. "Yes," said Anna.

"Deze plek is leuk", zei Sarah. "Ja", zei Anna.

"Quiet."

Stilte.

They looked out the window.

Ze keken uit het raam.

A woman walked by with a small dog.

Een vrouw liep langs met een kleine hond.

The dog stopped to sniff a tree.

De hond stopte om een boom te ruiken.

"Sometimes quiet is good," said Tom. the waitress came back with their coffee on a tray.

"Soms is stilte goed", zei Tom. De serveerster kwam terug met hun koffie op een dienblad.

The cups were white and clean.

De bekers waren wit en schoon.

Steam rose from the coffee.

Er kwam stoom uit de koffie.

"The cakes will be ready in a minute," she said.

"De koekjes zijn zo klaar", zei ze.

Anna picked up her coffee cup.

Anna pakte haar koffiebeker op.

It was warm in her hands.

Het was warm in haar handen.

"Perfect," she said.

"Perfect", zei ze.
