He was very clever but sometimes greedy.

One day, Anansi heard about a magic harp.

This harp could make beautiful music.

When it played, all the animals felt happy and peaceful.

El arpa pertenecía al Dios del Cielo. Anansi quería el arpa para sí mismo.

The harp belonged to the Sky God. Anansi wanted the harp for himself.

"Si tengo esta arpa, todos me amarán."

"If I have this harp, everyone will love me."

Así que Anansi hizo un plan.

So Anansi made a plan.

Escaló hasta el cielo usando su telaraña.

He climbed up to the sky using his web.

Estaba muy silencioso.

He was very quiet.

Cuando el Dios del Cielo estaba durmiendo, Anansi tomó el arpa.

When the Sky God was sleeping, Anansi took the harp.

Anansi brought the harp down to earth.

He was so excited.

But when he tried to play it, the harp made no sound.

It would not work for him.

Anansi lo intentó una y otra vez.

Anansi tried again and again.

Still nothing.

Se enfureció y sacudió el arpa.

He became angry and shook the harp.

Pero permaneció en silencio.

But it stayed silent.

Entonces un búho viejo y sabio se acercó a Anansi.

Then an old wise owl came to Anansi.

"El arpa solo toca para aquellos que comparten,"

"The harp only plays for those who share,"

dijo el búho.

said the owl.

"Te lo llevaste para quedártelo."

"You took it to keep for yourself."

Por eso no cantará.

"That is why it will not sing."

Anansi reflexionó sobre esto.

Anansi thought about this.

Se dio cuenta de que estaba equivocado.

He realized he was wrong.

Subió de vuelta al cielo y devolvió el arpa al Dios del Cielo. El Dios del Cielo se sorprendió.

He climbed back up to the sky and returned the harp to the Sky God. The Sky God was surprised.

"Why did you bring it back?"

"I learned that some things are meant to be shared, not owned,"

"You may visit and play the harp anytime, but it must stay here for everyone to enjoy."

Desde ese día en adelante, Anansi visitaría el cielo y tocaría el arpa.

From that day on, Anansi would visit the sky and play the harp.

La hermosa música flotó hasta la tierra, haciendo felices a todos los animales.

The beautiful music floated down to earth, making all the animals happy.

Y Anansi aprendió que compartir trae más alegría que guardar las cosas para uno mismo.

And Anansi learned that sharing brings more joy than keeping things for yourself.
