Il était une fois une araignée nommée Anansi.

Once upon a time, there lived a spider named Anansi.

Il était très malin mais parfois cupide.

He was very clever but sometimes greedy.

Un jour, Anansi entendit parler d'une harpe magique.

One day, Anansi heard about a magic harp.

Cette harpe pouvait créer une musique magnifique.

This harp could make beautiful music.

Quand elle jouait, tous les animaux se sentaient heureux et apaisés.

When it played, all the animals felt happy and peaceful.

La harpe appartenait au Dieu du Ciel. Anansi voulait la harpe pour lui-même.

The harp belonged to the Sky God. Anansi wanted the harp for himself.

Il pensa,

He thought,

« Si j'ai cette harpe, tout le monde m'aimera. »

"If I have this harp, everyone will love me."

Alors Anansi élabora un plan.

So Anansi made a plan.

Il grimpa jusqu'au ciel en utilisant sa toile.

He climbed up to the sky using his web.

Il était très silencieux.

He was very quiet.

Quand le Dieu du Ciel dormait, Anansi prit la harpe.

When the Sky God was sleeping, Anansi took the harp.

Anansi apporta la harpe sur terre.

Anansi brought the harp down to earth.

Il était si excité.

He was so excited.

Mais quand il essaya d'en jouer, la harpe ne produisit aucun son.

But when he tried to play it, the harp made no sound.

Elle ne voulait pas fonctionner pour lui.

It would not work for him.

Anansi essaya encore et encore.

Anansi tried again and again.

Toujours rien.

Still nothing.

Il se mit en colère et secoua la harpe.

He became angry and shook the harp.

Mais elle resta silencieuse.

But it stayed silent.

Alors un vieux hibou sage vint à Anansi.

Then an old wise owl came to Anansi.

"La harpe ne joue que pour ceux qui partagent,"

"The harp only plays for those who share,"

dit le hibou.

said the owl.

« Tu l'as pris pour le garder pour toi. »

"You took it to keep for yourself."

C'est pourquoi il ne chantera pas.

"That is why it will not sing."

Anansi réfléchit à cela.

Anansi thought about this.

Il se rendit compte qu'il avait tort.

He realized he was wrong.

Il remonta vers le ciel et rendit la harpe au Dieu du Ciel. Le Dieu du Ciel fut surpris.

He climbed back up to the sky and returned the harp to the Sky God. The Sky God was surprised.

« Pourquoi l'as-tu rapportée ? »

"Why did you bring it back?"

demanda-t-il.

he asked.

« J'ai appris que certaines choses sont faites pour être partagées, non possédées, »

"I learned that some things are meant to be shared, not owned,"

dit Anansi. Le Dieu du Ciel sourit.

said Anansi. The Sky God smiled.

« Tu as appris la sagesse, Anansi. »

"You have learned wisdom, Anansi."

« Tu peux venir jouer de la harpe quand tu veux, mais elle doit rester ici pour que tous puissent en profiter. »

"You may visit and play the harp anytime, but it must stay here for everyone to enjoy."

À partir de ce jour, Anansi se rendait au ciel et jouait de la harpe.

From that day on, Anansi would visit the sky and play the harp.

La belle musique descendit vers la terre, rendant tous les animaux heureux.

The beautiful music floated down to earth, making all the animals happy.

Et Anansi apprit que partager apporte plus de joie que de garder les choses pour soi.

And Anansi learned that sharing brings more joy than keeping things for yourself.
