The fox and the grapes

Once upon a time, in a lush green forest, there lived a clever fox.

Era uma vez, numa floresta exuberante, uma raposa inteligente.

This fox was known far and wide for his sharp wit and cunning nature.

Esta raposa era conhecida por toda a parte pela sua sagacidade e natureza astuta.

One sunny afternoon, as he was wandering through the woods, he came across a beautiful vineyard filled with ripe, juicy grapes.\n\nThe fox's eyes widened with delight as he saw the grapes glistening in the sunlight.

Numa tarde ensolarada, enquanto vagueava pela floresta, ele encontrou uma bela vinha cheia de uvas maduras e suculentas. Os olhos da raposa se abriram de deleite ao ver as uvas brilhando à luz do sol.

\"Oh, how wonderful!\" he thought.

"Oh, como é maravilhoso!" ele pensou.

\"Those grapes look so delicious.

"Estas uvas parecem tão deliciosas.

I must have them!\"\n\nHe tried to jump and reach the grapes, but they were too high.

Ele tentou saltar e alcançar as uvas, mas elas estavam muito altas.

He tried again, leaping with all his might, but still, he couldn't reach them.

Ele tentou novamente, pulando com todas as suas forças, mas ainda assim, não conseguiu alcançá-los.

The fox tried one more time, putting all his strength into the jump, but alas, the grapes remained out of his reach.\n\nFeeling tired and a bit disappointed, the fox sat down and looked up at the grapes.

A raposa tentou mais uma vez, colocando toda a sua força no salto, mas, infelizmente, as uvas permaneceram fora do seu alcance. Sentindo-se cansada e um pouco desapontada, a raposa sentou-se e olhou para as uvas.

He thought for a moment and then said to himself, \"Well, I didn't really want those grapes anyway.

Ele pensou por um momento e depois disse a si mesmo, "Bem, eu realmente não queria essas uvas de qualquer maneira.

They're probably sour and not worth the effort.\"\n\nWith that, the fox walked away, feeling content with his decision.

Provavelmente estão azedos e não valem o esforço. Com isso, a raposa foi embora, sentindo-se satisfeita com a sua decisão.

And so, he learned that sometimes, it's better to appreciate what you can have rather than desire what you can't.\n\nAnd that, my dear students, is the story of the fox and the grapes.

E assim, ele aprendeu que às vezes, é melhor apreciar o que você pode ter em vez de desejar o que você não pode. E que, meus queridos alunos, é a história da raposa e as uvas.

It teaches us that when we can't have something, we might convince ourselves that we didn't want it in the first place.

This is a clever way to deal with disappointment, isn't it?
