Un día, una niña pequeña cae en mi estanque.

One day, a little girl falls into my pond.

Su nombre es Lucy.

Her name is Lucy.

Ella no sabe nadar.

She cannot swim.

Se hunde más y más y más.

She goes down, down, down.

¡La salvo!

I save her!

La llevo a mi hogar submarino.

I bring her to my underwater home.

Tiene conchas hermosas y peces luminosos.

It has pretty shells and glowing fish.

Lucy no tiene miedo.

Lucy is not afraid.

Ella piensa que es hermoso.

She thinks it is beautiful.

"Gracias por salvarme,"

"Thank you for saving me,"

dice Lucy.

Lucy says.

"Pero debo irme a casa."

"But I must go home."

Mi madre se preocupará.

"My mother will worry."

Estoy solo.

I am lonely.

Quiero que Lucy se quede.

I want Lucy to stay.

Pero veo lágrimas en sus ojos.

But I see tears in her eyes.

Extraña a su familia.

She misses her family.

"Te llevaré a casa,"

"I will take you home,"

I say.

"¿Pero me visitarás a veces?"

"But will you visit me sometimes?"

Lucy sonríe.

Lucy smiles.

¡Sí!

"Yes!"

¡Podemos ser amigos!

"We can be friends!"

Llevo a Lucy de vuelta a la superficie.

I bring Lucy back to the surface.

Su madre la abraza fuerte.

Her mother hugs her tight.

Lucy le dice a todos que soy buena, no mala.

Lucy tells everyone that I am good, not bad.

Ahora los niños vienen a jugar junto a mi estanque.

Now children come to play by my pond.

Ya no tienen miedo.

They are not afraid anymore.

Me traen flores y cantan canciones.

They bring me flowers and sing songs.

Ya no estoy solo.

I am not lonely now.

Tengo muchos amigos.

I have many friends.

A veces la mejor manera de conservar a los amigos es dejarlos ir. El estanque está feliz.

Sometimes the best way to keep friends is to let them go. The pond is happy.

Los niños están felices.

The children are happy.

Y yo soy el más feliz de todos.

And I am the happiest of all.
