O Pescador e o Peixinho

Um pescador foi ao rio com sua rede.

A fisherman went to the river with his net.

Ele trabalhou o dia todo, mas não pescou nada.

He worked all day but caught nothing.

O sol estava se pondo.

The sun was going down.

He was very tired and hungry.

The little fish was very young and scared.

"Por favor, me deixe ir!"

"Please let me go!"

disse o peixinho.

"Sou pequeno demais para ser comido."

"I am too small to eat."

"Se esperares e me apanhares mais tarde, estarei grande e gordo."

"If you wait and catch me later, I will be big and fat."

"Então eu farei uma boa refeição para você."

"Then I will make a good meal for you."

O pescador olhou para o peixinho.

The fisherman looked at the tiny fish.

"No,"

disse o pescador.

"If I let you go, I may never catch you again."

"A small fish today is better than a big fish tomorrow that I may never get."

O pescador ficou com o peixinho.
