El Pescador y el Pececito

Un pescador fue al río con su red.

A fisherman went to the river with his net.

Trabajó todo el día pero no pescó nada.

He worked all day but caught nothing.

El sol se ponía.

The sun was going down.

Estaba muy cansado y hambriento.

He was very tired and hungry.

Por fin, sintió algo pequeño en su red.

Finally, he felt something small in his net.

Era un pez diminuto.

It was a tiny fish.

El pequeño pez era muy joven y estaba asustado.

The little fish was very young and scared.

¡Por favor, déjame ir!

"Please let me go!"

dijo el pececito.

said the little fish.

"Soy demasiado pequeño para comer."

"I am too small to eat."

"Si esperas y me atrapas más tarde, estaré grande y gordo."

"If you wait and catch me later, I will be big and fat."

"Entonces seré una buena comida para ti."

"Then I will make a good meal for you."

El pescador miró al pequeño pez.

The fisherman looked at the tiny fish.

"No,"

dijo el pescador.

"I have you now."

"If I let you go, I may never catch you again."

"A small fish today is better than a big fish tomorrow that I may never get."

El pescador se quedó con el pececillo.
