Der Frosch und die Maus

Ein Frosch lebte an einem großen Teich.

A frog lived by a big pond.

Eine Maus lebte auch in der Nähe des Teiches.

A mouse lived near the pond too.

Sie waren Nachbarn.

They were neighbors.

Eines Tages sagte der Frosch zur Maus: "Hallo, Freund!

One day, the frog said to the mouse, "Hello, friend!

Willst du mit mir schwimmen?" Die Maus sagte: "Ich kann nicht sehr gut schwimmen.

Do you want to swim with me?" The mouse said, "I cannot swim very well.

Ich habe Angst vor dem Wasser".

I am scared of the water."

"Keine Sorge", sagte der Frosch.

"Don't worry," said the frog.

"Ich werde dir helfen.

"I will help you.

Ich werde dir ein Seil um dein Bein und um mein Bein binden.

I will tie a string around your leg and around my leg.

Die Maus fand das eine gute Idee.

The mouse thought this was a good idea.

The frog tied a string around the mouse's leg and around his own leg.

They went into the water.

Zuerst war die Maus glücklich.

At first, the mouse was happy.

The frog helped him swim on top of the water.

But then the frog had a bad idea.

He wanted to eat the mouse!

The frog went down deep into the water.

The mouse could not breathe.

Die Maus hatte große Angst.

The mouse was very scared.

"Hilf mir!" rief die Maus.

"Help me!" cried the mouse.

"Ich kann nicht hier unten schwimmen!" Aber der Frosch hörte nicht zu.

"I cannot swim down here!" But the frog did not listen.

Er zog die Maus tiefer ins Wasser.

He pulled the mouse deeper into the water.

Gerade dann flog ein großer Vogel über den Teich.

Just then, a big bird flew over the pond.

Der Vogel war sehr hungrig.

The bird was very hungry.

Er sah die Maus im Wasser.

He saw the mouse in the water.

Der Vogel flog schnell herunter.

The bird flew down fast.

Er fing die Maus mit seinen Krallen.

He caught the mouse with his claws.

Aber der Frosch war immer noch an die Maus gebunden!

But the frog was still tied to the mouse!

Der Vogel fing sowohl die Maus als auch den Frosch.

The bird caught both the mouse and the frog.

Der Vogel flog mit beiden Tieren weg.

The bird flew away with both animals.

Er aß beide zum Abendessen.

He ate them both for dinner.
