Il était une fois un cerf qui vivait dans une belle forêt.

Once upon a time, there was a stag who lived in a beautiful forest.

Un jour, il est allé à un étang clair pour boire de l'eau.

One day, he went to a clear pond to drink some water.

En se penchant, il a vu son reflet dans l'eau.

As he bent down, he saw his reflection in the water.

Le cerf admirait ses fortes et belles cornes.

The stag admired his strong and handsome antlers.

"Oh, comme mes cornes sont magnifiques!" Il se dit.

"Oh, how magnificent my antlers are!" he said to himself.

Mais il a regardé ses jambes et s'est senti triste.

But then he looked at his legs and felt sad.

"Mes jambes sont si minces et laides", pensait-il.

"My legs are so thin and ugly," he thought.

C'est alors qu'un lion est apparu derrière les buissons.

Just then, a lion appeared from behind the bushes.

Le cerf s'enfuit rapidement pour se sauver.

The stag quickly ran away to save himself.

Ses jambes minces et rapides l'ont aidé à échapper au lion.

His thin and fast legs helped him escape from the lion.

Il a couru au fond de la forêt où le lion ne pouvait pas le suivre.

He ran deep into the forest where the lion couldn't follow.

Mais en courant, ses cornes se sont coincées dans les branches d'un arbre.

But as he ran, his antlers got stuck in the branches of a tree.

Le cerf a lutté et a essayé de se libérer, mais il n'a pas pu.

The stag struggled and tried hard to free himself, but he couldn't.

Le lion le rattrapa et rugit fort.

The lion caught up with him and roared loudly.

Le cerf a réalisé son erreur.

The stag realized his mistake.

Ses jambes minces, qu'il trouvait laides, lui avaient sauvé la vie.

His thin legs, which he thought were ugly, had saved his life.

Mais ses belles cornes, dont il était si fier, l'avaient mis en danger.

But his beautiful antlers, which he was so proud of, had put him in danger.

La leçon à tirer: Ne vous jugez jamais vous- même ou les autres uniquement sur l'apparence.

Moral of the story: Never judge yourself or others by appearances alone.
