Die Eiche und das Schilf

Es war einmal eine starke Eiche und einige kleine Schilfchen, die an einem Fluss wuchsen.

Once upon a time, there was a strong oak tree and some little reeds growing by a river.

Die Eiche war groß und stolz.

The oak tree was tall and proud.

Er schaute auf die Schilf und sagte: "Ihr seid so klein und schwach.

It looked down at the reeds and said, "You are so small and weak.

Wenn der Wind weht, beugst du dich und wiegst.

When the wind blows, you bend and sway.

Ich bin stark und stehe auf, egal was passiert".

I am strong and stand tall no matter what."

Die Rohre antworteten: "Ja, wir biegen uns mit dem Wind, aber so bleiben wir sicher.

The reeds replied, "Yes, we bend with the wind, but that is how we stay safe.

Du bist stark, aber manchmal ist es besser, flexibel zu sein als stark".

You are strong, but sometimes being flexible is better than being strong."

Eines Tages kam ein großer Sturm.

One day, a big storm came.

Der Wind wehte sehr stark.

The wind blew very hard.

Die Eiche versuchte hoch zu stehen, aber der Wind war zu stark.

The oak tree tried to stand tall, but the wind was too strong.

Die Eiche brach und fiel zu Boden.

The oak tree broke and fell to the ground.

Das Schilf jedoch beugte sich im Wind und blieb unversehrt.

The reeds, however, bent with the wind and stayed safe.

Als der Sturm vorüber war, standen die Schilf noch, aber die Eiche war gebrochen.

When the storm was over, the reeds were still standing, but the oak tree was broken.

"Manchmal ist es besser, sich ein wenig zu beugen, als zu stark zu sein".

The reeds said, "Sometimes, it is better to bend a little than to try to be too strong."

Die Moral der Geschichte lautet: Manchmal ist es besser, flexibel und anpassungsfähig zu sein als zu starr und unnachgiebig.

The moral of the story is: Sometimes, being flexible and adapting to changes can be better than being too rigid and unyielding.
